yamaha sponsors CenterYamaha Marine Group recently announced that effective January 1, 2013, it became the first Platinum Sponsor of the Center for Coastal Conservation.

“The corporate leadership of Yamaha Marine Group has a clear vision for the future of recreational fishing and boating,” said Jeff Angers, President, Center for Coastal Conservation. “With Yamaha’s incredible contributions of time, talent and treasure, we are better able to advance federal public policy that strengthens the entire fishing and boating community.”

The role of the Center for Coastal Conservation is to affect laws and policy related to the conservation of marine resources with broad abilities to pursue political solutions. The organization is non-partisan and focuses on having an impact in the national political arena, principally Congress and federal regulatory agencies. A few of the initiatives it supports include: promoting a quality recreational fishery; ending overfishing by a certain time; rebuilding plans for fisheries with time constraints; improving angling and boating access, and working waterfronts and marinas.

“Yamaha Marine has been an active member of the Center for Coastal Conservation since its inception, and we were pleased to increase our support this year,” said Ben Speciale, Yamaha Marine Group President. “Working together, we will do our best to help move public policy into a direction that will support conservation and the growth of marine industry overall.”

The Center for Coastal Conservation is a coalition of the leading advocates for marine recreational fishing and boating. It is dedicated to promoting sound conservation and use of ocean resources and supports federal legislators through its political action committee, Center PAC. The Center’s membership includes individuals and the major players in marine conservation and recreational boating and fishing. Nonprofit members include American Sportfishing Association, Coastal Conservation Association, International Game Fish Association and National Marine Manufacturers Association.
