Upcoming Debut of Local Knowledge
Why would the team at BD Outdoors want to get into a traditional medium like TV? For us the answer was simple, FUN! We are all adventure junkies who love to fish and share our experiences with others.
Our new show, Local Knowledge will give us the opportunity to explore new corners of the world as well as get to know our own backyards a little better. The show will debut on Destination America HD on January 17th at 7am(EST).
Our team has been blessed with great partners that believe in our vision and will allow us to show you a different side of fishing, our way.
Traditionally, fishing shows have focused on just catching the fish but that is not our goal.
We want to explore the culture behind the fishing scene that makes up the sport we all love so much. Local Knowledge will introduce you to the people, places and the adventure that define our favorite pastime.
When we think back on our fishing trips, the catches definitely take center stage but it’s the little things that keep us coming back. Little things, like having a cold beer at that hole in the wall bar overlooking a legendary marina. Or maybe it was that rock pile that a local panguero was kind enough to share, that completely changed our trip.
In our minds, it’s these bits of “Local Knowledge” that make the real memories of that epic trip.
We look forward to capturing these moments and sharing them with you. Don’t worry; we’ll still have plenty of the heart pumping, big fish action that makes any angler’s blood boil.
Another cool aspect to Local Knowledge is the mixing of East and West coast styles. While we may joke with our fishing friends on the “other” side of the country we all know there’s some great fishing to be had on both coasts. I know I’m excited to share some of the things that make California and Baja fishing so unique with my co-host Capt. Rush Maltz. Rush knows the Florida Keys like only a local can and has got some pretty unique fishing opportunities he’s been dying to share. You will see no shortage of East Coast versus West Coast ribbing on the show, but it’s all in good fun. We both are really looking forward to exploring each other’s home waters and beyond while learning some new tricks along the way.
Local Knowledge is not a traditional fishing show.
We have always prided ourselves on being forward thinking within our business and embracing technology. While Local Knowledge will be available every Sunday at 7am (EST) on Destination America, it will also be available to watch 24/7 on demand through a variety of sources.
BD will simultaneously release the show online, for free and will be viewable on nearly any connected device. To take this a step further, we will be adding custom apps for iOs, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV’s and more throughout our first season. Want to download a full show to watch later? Not a problem! We don’t care how or when you watch, we just want to make sure you can watch the show from the device of your choice.
The entire team here at BD has been working overtime to make sure we deliver a quality product and we’re just about ready to share it with the world. We already have several shoots in San Diego, Florida and Baja under our belt and we will be on the road all winter and spring shooting more. If you’ve got an out of the way hot spot or a bite you’d like to share, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you.
We hope you’ll join us on Sunday, January 17th for the big premier of Local Knowledge!
