Check out the spring fishing reports from Van Wormer Resorts.
The season is off and running down on the East Cape of Baja California Sur. It’s only April and anglers at Van Wormer Resorts are seeing plenty of bait in the water and more importantly sardines. There have not been too many sardinas in the area the last few years, so this is a welcome sight.
Of course where there is bait there will be predators chasing them.
Water temps are reaching 70-75 degrees right now, so the conditions are getting right for a host of species. This week, as you can see from the pictures below, the Van Wormer Resorts charter fleet is on the tuna bite.
Most of the tuna are down south of Los Frailes, which is about an hour and a half run from Los Barriles. The tuna have ranged from football up to 50-pounds and have all been feeding on sardinas, making it the go-to bait of choice.
We are also seeing a few wahoo in the area, as well as pargo, cabrilla, roosterfish and marlin. The winds have subsided and the weather is warming to a high in the low 80’s. The conditions are perfect, so if you haven’t made your plans to visit Van Wormer Resorts, it’s time to get on the phone to book your next East Cape excursion! Hope to see you all soon!
