In an effort to raise funds for US veterans, the Booby Trap Fishing Team will hold its third annual “Get Tight Sucka” Texas Swordfish Seminar on March 23rd.
The event runs from 10 AM to 10 PM at Surfside Marina, and tickets are $20 at the gate. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy food, drink, music and fishing-related fun for the entire family.
The heart of the event will be a series of swordfish seminars, breakout sessions on rigging a variety of effective baits and tackle, a live auction and some valuable raffles. The Grand Door Prize will be a swordfishing trip for one lucky person with the Booby Trap Fishing Team as a guest aboard their 52-foot Viking, the Booby Trap.
Seminars will be helmed by members of the Booby Trap fishing Team, including Capt. Ahab (Brett Holden), Capt. Jeff Wilson, Capt. Travis Joyce, mate Troy Noska, and crewmembers Rory Starling and Davis Gregory. In addition, special guest speaker Capt. Nick Stanczyk of Bud N’ Mary’s—a pioneer of daytime swordfishing—will reveal his swordfish secrets and techniques.
According to the organizers of the Swordfish Seminar, the main goal is to raise funds for the country’s everyday heroes: US Veterans. In the first year, they raised just under $100,000, and last year nearly $250,000 was raised. This year, they are aiming to do even better.
