WATER TO PLATE

WITH TANNER SARASPE

PRESENTEDBY

In San Diego there is one family that knows it all when it comes to local seafood and that’s the Saraspe’s. A true watermen family that loves, eats, sleeps and breaths the ocean.

I grew up working at one of the local fish markets in Southern California. Lauro Saraspe the eldest of the family, a bear of a human would deliver swordfish he caught through the late summer into fall. Once fall would commence his son Andy would start making his appearance with bins full of local spiny lobsters. Then his son and daughter, Charlie and Tanner started showing up with man sized bluefin tuna, yellowtail, white seabass and anything else they could get their hands on.

Today, Tanner oversees the day to day at Saraspe Seafoods which equates to providing the San Diego community with the f reshest, best quality and cared for seafood in the area. Along with that Tanner and her family serve as stewards of the industry, upholding best fishing and caretaking practices for their sustainable fishing methods.

Come along as Tanner shares some of her favorite takes on our local seafood.
