In 2014, SeaVee introduced its award-winning Z stepped hull design which they patented and triggered an incredible run of sales growth. SeaVee is now the largest boat builder in Dade County based on sales revenue. It became clear that a larger, consolidated facility was required to scale up production capacities for the future and to accommodate larger models.
SeaVee is grateful to all of those who helped realize this vision into a brand new ultra-modern facility in Medley, Florida. The factory was built on a reclaimed EPA Superfund site and the process was intricate. The 9-acre property offered many challenges to the SeaVee team and T.A. Builders.
“The hilly site also had to be leveled, graded and proper drainage had to be installed before the giant slab could be poured to support the 180,000 square foot manufacturing hall and service center. A tilt-up concrete building was erected to accompany the existing small parts lamination center to yield 220,000 sq. feet of working space. The entire construction process was completed in less than 18-months,” said SeaVee. “The new SeaVee manufacturing campus features countless design innovations and consists of multiple buildings consolidating all of the departments from design and sales to construction and service in one location. The new facility is nearly three times larger than the previous factory and may employ over 300 people. “
The new factory includes modern innovations that include a computerized CNC cutter and router, modern ventilation systems, lamination centers, metal shops, rigging shops and so much more. Staff and customers will benefit from an overhead catwalk system above the action. A boat test tank is on the factory floor so that boats can be floated to eliminate trips to Biscayne Bay for water-based tests. This is a huge benefit in the boat building process.
Customers will enjoy the sales showroom where one can configure a boat’s helm station and build specifications. The new SeaVee World Headquarters is a destination visit for customers, a modern production facility and an American success story all in one.
