MarineMax Inc., the nation’s largest recreational boat and yacht retailer, recently created a new, family-friendly, outboard-only tournament series called the MarineMax Outboard Invitational Series. The events will be held over the course of the summer along the beautiful Emerald Coast of Florida and Alabama.
Tournament Dates and Locations
• July 2, 2011 – Destin, Florida Tournament
• July 30, 2011 – Panama City, Florida Tournament
• August 13, 2011 – Gulf Shores, Alabama Tournament
• August 27, 2011 – Pensacola, Florida Tournament
The four tournaments will focus on different species in different locations, with prizes and awards for Inshore, Offshore, Lady Anglers and Kids divisions. In addition, all entry fees from the MarineMax Outboard Invitational Series will be donated to the Fisher House, a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military personnel in their time of need.
“At MarineMax, we share the same passion for family boating and fishing as our customers — because we’re boaters and fishermen, too,” said William McGill, president and chief executive officer. “The idea for our MarineMax Outboard Invitational Series grew from that passion, and the decision to donate the entry fees to Fisher House came from our desire to recognize our military men and women for the sacrifices they continue to make on our behalf.”
Each tournament will include a captains meeting and weigh-in, as well as other events such as dinners (depending on location). Tournament species include wahoo, king mackerel, mahimahi, snapper, grouper, redfish, trout and more. No experience is necessary, and the tournaments are all-inclusive.
