The San Diego fleet is getting ready for the 2012 Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge, which takes place August 24-26. This is the largest tuna fishing tournament of its kind in the nation and the largest single fundraising event for the San Diego Make-A-Wish Foundation.
If you like to fish in tournaments that make a difference, this is a perfect event for you. The main charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, grants wishes to children with life-threatening conditions.
The tournament will kick off on Friday, August 24 with the captain’s meeting. After a full day of fishing, the event will conclude with a huge banquet on Sunday, August 26.
All of those who attend will enjoy live music, raffles, and live and silent auctions! Admission to the event is free and a banquet ticket is just $15.
This year’s Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge will be held at the United Portuguese Hall located on Avenida de Portugal, just off Shelter Island Drive in San Diego. Parking is available on Shelter Island Drive.
