This episode of Local knowledge, Paddy Hop, brings the crew back home to Ali’s home town of San Diego. Riding in style, Ali and Rush explore the town’s best local food spots while planning their next offshore run.
“There’s nothing I like more than showing off my home town. We have so much to offer. Not only great the great fishing, but so many local flavors to take in” said Ali Hussainy.
Cruising offshore waters for clumps of kelp that hold bait and a variety of gamefish is an iconic SoCal fishery. Dorado, yellowtail are common, but tuna can often make an appearance around a paddy. The tower station of the Andros makes the perfect platform for this task and it all about covering ground and being prepared.
“What I love about coming to the West coast is that I get the opportunities to experience and learn new types of fishing”, says Capt. Rush Maltz, co-host and Florida fishing guide. “It doesn’t matter what we are after, something new is always fun.”
