When a fishing legend says he’s going to divulge all the angling secrets he’s learned and perfected throughout his life, people take notice.
That’s exactly what Steve Lassley will be doing this Thursday, May 2, at the Dana Landing Market and Fuel Dock in San Diego, California in what may be his last offshore fishing seminar.
Accompanying him will be Pete Groesbeck, another famous fisherman with plenty of trophy catches and tournament wins to prove it.
“These are two of the most well-known and successful fishermen in So Cal,” said Ali Hussainy, President of BD Outdoors. “This is an amazing opportunity for any local angler to come home with a lifetime’s worth of fishing knowledge.”
Lassley, a contributor to BD Outdoors, grew up fishing commercially. He bought his first fishing boat at age 17 and has made a living on the water ever since. He has more than 20 first-place tournament wins to his credit, and is approaching $7 million in winnings.
Lassley and Groesbeck will cover a wide range of California fishing techniques and secrets, including:
- Charts and water conditions for offshore fishing
- Trolling dead rigged baits, including how to troll and the different ways to rig Ballyhoo and Mullet
- Trolling with dredges, including the different types, how to troll them, when to use them and how to rig them
- Trolling with Daisy chains
- Reading and tuning your electronics for offshore fishing
Given his decision that this may be his last fishing seminar ever, Lassley is going to reveal techniques for marlin and swordfish that have never been heard before, because he has never spoken about it in public. He intends for the seminar to be very casual with a lot of Q&A.
“Lassley is going to tell us pretty much everything he knows,” said Brant Crenshaw, Sales Director for BD Outdoors. “Even more interesting, he wants to talk about techniques that are not typically used in Southern California but that he has been using for a while.”
The seminar takes place on May 2nd from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Participants will be treated to a free BBQ chicken dinner. A donation of any size to Friends of Rollo is requested but not required.
