I just wanted to share a bit of very personal experience that has happened recently. My mom was in a boating accident last week and luckily everyone on board, while hurting now, is still alive. They hit a tree that was fallen over from the bank in a winding creek. Mom was thrown forward into some unknown and unforgiving part of the boat and suffered fractured ribs, shoulder blade, hand and vertebrae. Luckily all fractures that will heal on their own without further surgeries. I also had noticed some light bruising around her eyes and across the bridge of her nose. When a friend brought me her personal items from the scene, I realized that she had been wearing her new Costa glasses that we had just given her a week before.
The left lens had taken a serious impact and broke on the outside, but the inside surface was intact and completely smooth.
I’m sure that had she not been wearing these Costa glasses, she could easily have lost her sight in that eye.
It is just a constant reminder of how fragile our eyes really are and how many close calls we encounter in fishing. So protection from the sun is not the only reason to wear Costa’s glasses. They can protect your eyes from flying hooks, swivels and now hidden trees!
Thanks Costa for making such quality products!
