The 2017 Fred Hall Show kicked off it’s series in Longbeach, California in stellar fashion.  Huge crowds poured through the doors of the five day fishing gear binge.  There was something for everyone at the show.  BD created a Digital Show Guide for the second year.


The CCA CAL continued to recruit anglers and outdoorsmen to the cause.  Preserving our access to the amazing natural resources of the State and providing a common sense approach to stand up for the public’s access to these resources.

3Penn Reels

Penn had a full display of their latest offerings as well as experts on hand for seminars and one on one discussions about gear and its applications to West Coast fishing.


BoatUS was on hand to talk about the many benefits to be had from a BoatUS membership.  BoatUS also offers boaters an affordable insurance solution for their on the water activities.  The BoatUS Foundation provides a valuable resource for boaters to gain boater education and safety skills.

5Live Fish

Check out the live calico, sand and spotted bass in the live fish tank sponsored by Accurate reels.  This and many other species were cruising around this mobile aquarium.

6Accurate Reels

Accurate had all of their amazing reels on display at the show, but the new Valiant models had the crowds buzzing to get their hands on it.  These small reels are made to catch big fish.

7AFTCO Innovations

AFTCO had all of their latest fishing hardware and apparel on hand for closer inspection.  New fighting belt systems, heavy duty roller guides and classic aluminum gaffs were on display.

8AFTCO Anhydrous

Another exciting innovation from AFTCO is their new Anhydrous Waterproof foul weather gear.  This jacket and bib system is lightweight, breathable and made to protect you 100% from the elements during your pursuit of fun.

9Inland Boat Center

Inland Boat Center had a huge presence at the show with a mega display of their quality Defiance and Arima boats.  Visitors could climb onboard and see first hand what makes Defiance boats the choice of serious fishermen.

10Mustad Hooks

Mustad had their latest hooks and tools on display, but their new dry bag was the eye-catcher at their booth.

Amedeo Bachar‘s booth is always packed with patrons admiring and purchasing his incredible marine art.  Check out our previous Artist Spotlight on Amedeo and you will see why he is so popular.

12Blue Seas Fabrication

Blue Seas Fabrication is your West Coast source for the wildly popular SeaDek boat material.  There are so many uses for SeaDek on your boat, you need to check it out.

There is so much to do and see at a Fred Hall Show.  Outside, visitors enjoyed great food, dog jumping competitions, duck races and lumberjack antics.  It is time well spent with friends and family.

Capt. Scott Goodwin started fishing in the lakes of Kentucky where he grew up. A move to Florida, however, brought him into a whole new realm of fishing. After receiving a bachelor's degree in biology from Eckerd College, he decided that he liked catching fish more than studying them and thus began his career as a captain. Scott began working as a mate on a charter boat and worked his way up to captain. He has been fortunate to fish in some of the top locations on the globe, including Florida, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and the Bahamas. Scott has learned from some of the best captains in the sport and has more than 27 years experience as a professional fisherman. He openly shares his knowledge and fishing tips on BD.
