Made my annual trip to Zihua. I had 3 days booked for fishing with Anuar on the panga "Peregrina". First day out was 11/21. Clear morning with a slight chop, and minimal swell. Traveled about 5-6 miles and started trolling with lures and dead bait. Hooked up a small sail around 8am. C&R at boatside. Estimated weight at around 50#. Around 9am we had a double of dorado. I quickly boated mine and my fishing partner Ronnie reeled his in. As it was coming to the boat, I saw another dorado, below his. I mentioned it to Anuar and he replied that he still had a line in the water. We boated Ronnie's dorado and no sooner we put the boat in gear, the other dorado took the bait. I boated that one and back to trolling again. All 3 were cows in the 15# range. Around 11am we had a strike and I assumed it was a sail. I found out Iwas wrong when it jumped out of the water and saw it was a nice bull dorado. I fought him for about 7 minutes before getting him boatside. He was around 35# as judged by Anuar. We trolled the rest of the day, but got no other strikes. Day 2 on the 23rd we only only caught and released 1 sail of about 80#. Day 3 we struck out. But, so did most of the rest of the fleet. We ended up going another day and ended up with just 1 sail on that day also. It was also around 80#. It came unhooked at boatside as Anuar grabbed the leader. Water temps were very warm except for the first day, when they seemed cooler. Hopefully the fishing will pick up as the water temps lower some in the next couple months.
