Left the slip at 4:30 am grabbed a scoop of so so deans and went west. Had some rain squalls on the way out that looked like twisters on the radar screen, Real trippy looking. Found a current line a little NW of the 182 that had paddys stacked up on it, All of them loaded with medium grade YT & Dorado, 20lb floro and butt hooks did the trick on the YT, Slow trolling from paddy to paddy got the Dorado. Final count 15 YT 10 - 18lbs, 4 Dorado, All hens one went 21 lbs, The others 8-10. Left them biting at 10:30 Called out the numbers 1 time, 6 or 7 boats called back for me to repeat the numbers walking all over each other, So I shut the radio offLOL. Turned it back on 8 miles from MB I heard Sea Roach calling for Papa J in a panic said he was taking on water, I called jason on the cell phone and relayed, Lost radio contact with him, Saw Sea Tow, Life guard boats hauling ass out of the channel with No Limits bringing up the rear heading for Sea Roach, Sounded serious I hope everyone is OK

Great job SALTYDAWG on those dodo's. We couldn't get em to bite on Friday.

Does the moon affect dodo's too? BFT around a full moon, how about dodo's?

Be interesting to see how the new moon affects things. We have warm water, wind, lightning...what else can change? gotta be the moon.

    Good report, thanks.

Sea Roach made it back to her slip. Watched Sea Tow bring her in this afternoon. Whatever the problem, appartently repaired or I would expect she would have been taken to the yard and hauled out.

First of all everyone on the "Sea Roach" wanted me to thank you Bill for the call. It ended up being a 4" exhaust coming apart & flooded the engine room in less than 10 minutes. They were about 2-3 mile right off point loma. Some passing by had stopped & took all the passengers off. We called the Sea Roach on the VHF they answered back, then their radio went dead. (Batteries under water). Time to put a battery on my flybridge under the helm. Since Billy & I work for Sea Tow part time we called them & had their boats heading that way. Billy & I loaded a bunch of gear in my boat & did 21kts all the way to the scene...now that I think about it that 25 GPH per side. When we arrived lifeguards were trying to pump her out we put 2 more gas & 2 electric pumps on board, while of the life guards pluged any and all hole & thru-hulls.

After about 20-30 minutes we got her stern floating again.( water up to the gunnels) check for leaks & got her under tow back to Mission Bay.

Also a big thanks for Sea Tow & the lifeguards who did a great job helping save the boat.

Glad I could help, Now that everyone is safe, Someone should tell them that 72 is not an emergency channel and they are very lucky I recognized the panic in his voice and was even able to hear them over the weekend channel 72 babblers:)

Nice job on the fish and the radio! I did the drive by in the 20' Skippy as you guys were on the hook in the channel.

BTW- I heard all the radio talk on 16, and IMHO the response sounded slow by the government folks. Those poor guys were begging for pumps and help.
30 minutes after the call the Lifeguard boat (with the camera crew) finally decided to "see" what was going on. Naturally, they can't do much but film.

Props to the civilians who were the first responders!

It sounds like SeaTow came through, and everything turned out as well as could be expected.
