I drove down and checked out the factory and my boat on Friday. I learned a ton about how they do things, got to see a bunch of awesome boats in various stages of build, and also got to see just how busy the factory is at north river. They are cranking out tons of boats in all sizes from Seahawks to a 50+ footer. I also got to meet a bunch of cool folks who clearly love boat building and have a ton of experience. Well worth the drive. A couple of things that stuck on the trip:

- it's a big boat. It's one thing to see measurements and cad drawings and another to run around it. I could legitimately fish four people on the bow alone. There will be a learning curve.

- The mil spec scuppers are awesome. No chovie plugging here. They said it was designed to flush .50 cal rounds.

- the shoxx seats were expensive but saved me a ton of real estate in cabin and money. Without them I would have had to extend the cabin to have a bed

- I elected to go with custom kill bags for my fish boxes. Fish boxes are much bigger than I thought and I anticipate I can carry 40 average sized fish below deck and in the transom. Custom kill bags are going to be a lot less expensive and replaceable. The trade off is ease of use and I lose square footage in fish box space

- May try to just run the boat up and down the coast vs trailering where possible.

- I may have added one pretty epic feature. Once I confirm I will add it here.

Seeing it in person confirmed that this was the right design for our family. The size is going to take lots of hours of practice towing, driving, and parking in small marinas.

I want to thank all of the folks that shared their stories, builds, and innovations. Building on their ideas and experiences really influenced and improved this design.

The boat goes to paint next week and then on to rigging. I will be on the water in august. I appreciate your advice Goat and I understand the consequences of having paint. I'm going to try to find a reliable place where I can get it touched up every 3-5 years as part of regular maintenance.

Looking good. I have fished of several NR walk arounds 30-32' and they are sweet. None had the 24 degree hull though so I am interested to hear how she behaves

Good idea to get it painted. I think tin boats look too crusty after a few years without paint.

Gate keeper, you got this one? A Kali paint sniffer is crapping in our sandbox. Sick em.

Jeff, your going to find that trailering your boat is not that bad, just take your time and it's a piece of cake. I've found that docking and manuvering is actually easier with a bigger boat, the movement is more predictable and actually your not pushed around by the wind as much, just go slow and the boat with glyde right where you aim it.

    Your boats looking awesome!

A couple of new photos before the holiday. Roof is on, window cut outs are done and the rear rails are on. Interior is taking shape as well. Hopefully the front rails get done next week, they make the boat.

I forgot to mention that I did end up going with the Garmin Fantom radar, excited to see it in action. I'm also leaning really heavily towards joystick steering at the rear helm.

Jeff - I've been debating dropping the low chirp and just sticking with high and downvu/sidevu. Do you rely on your medium/low chirp often?

You Sir have a need to be Educated on Aluminum Boats; Your current location says it all. Your the Latest DickWeed from KTown that hasn't a clue.

    I am as well.

Steve we shall see if he wants to play.

    Damn, that's a pretty boat.

You sir are correct. She is a right pretty Boat that will give the OP a good time while he is in her saddle. I prefer Bare Back but each his own on the appearance. He says he is willing to pay to keep her looking as fresh as the day he bought her. Mistresses cost money and the SWMBO will come and correct him. Time will tell in 5 years and the boat will require a beauty shop visit to peal away the Pain-t and reapply the Makeup and War Paint.

No I truly want a Coldwater not a Northriver. If I was to do over I would by the CW Hull and finish it myself. (faster) or by the License to build my own from Scratch.

    What's holding me back?

My Future retirement in a year and a half from now after I get a new knee.

Edited it to remove the pic of someone else's knee. Tapatalk shows the last pic posted. I'd much rather see her (the mistress of the deep). Beautiful!

Looking great. I loved the weekly pics. My favorite was the week before Christmas, titled "Christmas Joy".

Joystick would be very cool... I didn't! Have that option with Hondas but at 10K +/- I would have had to pass anyways.

I went with the HW 1K and the Down Vu/ Sidevu. It has a 600w mid chirp. We we able to see the pipes noting bottem in 500' with it.

The only reason I went with the Down Vu/Sidevu was it was transom mount. And didn't want two
4" holes in the boat that didn't work. The Thru hull HW has a range from 16-24 degrees and having a 24 degree hull put me at the edge.... I'll be chasing tuna and salmon this weekend so I should be able to give you real data on how it works with a NR 24 degree hull.

Progress continues. I did add the Optimus 360 system so I'll have a joystick at the rear helm. All of the general boat crap has started arriving as well. Dinghy, down riggers, burnewiin (plastic) rod holders, etc. I'm ready to move from the purchasing stage to the fishing stage...

I'm really hoping to have her ready for the last tuna classic of the season but the window is tight. May have to pull an all nighter putting 20 warm up hours on the engines to get that first service in.

You can see what the bow rails will look like on the side photo. The port and starboard net holders are both moving back to the gap in the rod holders and away from the pinch point at the rear of the cabin.

If you are curious what the seats will look like.. Here are the pilot and co pilot seats:

    http://shoxs.com/6300

I'm not sure how far my overhang is, I'll measure when I head down to the factory again.

Hey look I looked up in the dictionary the definition of dick weed because we haven't heard that term in CA since the 1980's..... Dick weed: a person who calls people they do not know names that are no longer used by normal people.

    Very nice.

The seats mount to the wall also if I'm seeing that correct? Does that take up less room than the standard air ride seats? Boat looks awesome.
