Cleared the harbor at 5:30am last Saturday and headed to Santa Cruz. There were a few party boats and other guys fishing the area when we arrived. By 9am basically everyone cleared out. The tide changed and this happened. cruz.JPG cruz2.JPG

Nice pile of local yellows, great to see a successful CI report! Grade looks pretty solid too.

Bait, jigs, working bird schools or anchored? I'm sure there's a few bd'ers who wouldn't mind some details.

Scott, lots of bait around, we used live mackerel on a dropper loop. We drifted, bite lasted about 90 minutes.

Excellent yellows there! They are always suckers for live mackerel on a dropper loop!

When was the last time anyone has seen this quality of YT at Santa Cruz in mid-April?

Mid-April yellows thick enough to stick 6 quality pigs, not in my lifetime that's for damn sure!

Sure hope this is the norm this summer....

Bob, the mackerel were all over the water column, we made bait in about 90 ft of water on a Sabki rig.
