Yellowtail live bait reel

My dad is currently wrapping me a new stick( Calstar 15-40lb set up) and I want to pair it with a new reel. Mainly going to be used as a flyline set up for yellows at Catalina and Clemente. Was looking at the Speedmaster 12ii, but was wondering if anyone else had any recommendations or ideas. I prefer the reel to be silver or black to match the colors Im using on the rod. Thanks in advance!

The Talica would be better for fly lining,

In my opinion a Trinidad 14 should 100% be the reel of choice.

If you're biased to Penn, a Torque 12 or 15 Star Drag would definitely work, too,

If those are too pricey, the Torium 14 or Fathom 12 or 15 Star Drag are also great choices.

I use a Trinidad 16 A , for my 25 LB
Setup, and it’s perfect,
But the Torium 16 HG is a good choice to.

For 15-40 (sounds like a 270h) I use a Saltist or Saltiga 20. One is black the other is silver. No need to go lever drag or 2 speed for this application and the star drags cast much better. Tons of other applications, but for this class I use Daiwa stars.

My live bait yellowtail go to combo is a Calstar GF800M (20/40) with a Penn LP400 with 40lb braid and the appropriate top shot.

15-40 has always confused me ...
I've never seen a rod that i would consider fishing 15 on that I would ever think would even be usable for 40 lb...of course that's just me..

I use a Trinidad 16 A , for my 25 LB
Setup, and it’s perfect,
But the Torium 16 HG is a good choice to.

Typically, the mid-range 20-, 25-, 30-lbs for a 15-40 lb...

Take the Shimano TZC66XH rated 65-200 Power Pro (30-100 mono ?)...doesn't make much sense either...

I've been using Toriums a lot in the last decade, I see Penn Fathoms are popular on the sport boats, if you like lever drags, I'd consider the fury series accurate reels. Many to choose from, hard to go wrong with the new technology these days.
