Since the trip got canceled last Saturday, figured I'd use my rain check yesterday. Light crew, only about 20 people. Brought one set up for yo yo iron, and one for dropper loop. Got to the shoe and fish were boiling everywhere. Threw out my jig and instantly hooked up, less than a few minutes into the fight, broke off (rod tip down, rookie mistake). Before I knew it, there were 6-7 people all hooked up at once. Tied on another jig and hooked first drop. Got this one in about 5-10 minutes. Yellows coming on deck left and right. Almost everyone fly lining bait, lines everywhere, but with the captain screaming his head off they did a Damn good job at losing very little fish. His guidance helped a bunch of newbs like myself in landing these brutes.
Threw out the jig again, hooked up near the bottom, and fought this thing for like 30 minutes, they were giving me shit on the boat. I'm thinking (these clowns are fighting from being bit up top, so I got to pull mine from 50+ft down). Well, after the captain gave me shit, I got a salute at least, lol. Went 2 of 3, all on the jig, salas 6x jr (mint- stuck in some fishies mouth), and blue&white. Fun ass trip, great crew, great group of people to fish with and 61 yellows on deck! !

Thanks Pete. I've been getting skunked on the kayak and on my buddies boat, so it felt good to finally get some.

Nothing less than 20lb on deck! I should've taken some more pictures to show how much of a zoo it was. Two other sporties a baseball throw away, with a few pb'ers trying to go right in between until they got cussed out pretty badly, lol.

Nice fish. Glad you had good time. Not sure about the "taking shit from the captain" part tho. Not my style.

It was all in good fun. While he was giving me shit, I said "I'll arm wrestle after I land this fish", the shit talking immediately stopped, lol. Once the fish was on deck, he saluted me. No hard feelings. Good captain, he really did his best to make sure we landed every possible fish.
