Cleaned a yellowfin today and it had a grasshopper in its belly. It was cuaght around the 1010. Funny thing was last week was at La Jolla and saw a grasshopper and alot of butterflies and joked to my fiance about hooking one on and catching something crazy. Anyone else find anything odd besides bait fish in guts before?

Funny you should bring this up.... Sunday my 8yr old is playing with the neighbor kids who's Dad is an avid fisherman (freshwater).... He tells my 8yr old that tuna eats crickets. I told him he must be mistaking the story for trout. But maybe there is something going on??? That would explain my boy looking at me like he did...he had the " No Dad I'm telling you what he said" look in his eyes...lol

Saturday I saw a baby flying fish that could very well have been a grasshopper. It popped up,flew about 10 feet landed and flew about another 10 feet.I commented about how it looked just like a grasshopper.

Congratulations on your pending gay marriage, Chris. Is that legal in California again, or did you intend to put another "e" on that word?

Fiance' does that make you feel better? If you want to know about laws on gay marriage you'll have to find that out for yourself buddy. GFY:finger: Here to talk about fishing not gay enquiries.

They're not grasshoppers, they're what I call "kelp crickets" and they're the spawn of the fucking devil.

We once had a nice fish get hopelessly stuck in a kelp, and we were going to bail on the kelp anyway so we pulled up, gaffed the fish, and pulled the fish and half the paddy onto the boat in the process.

Suddenly, we're crawling with the damn things. They were about 3 inches long, kelp-brown, and they bit like a sumbitch! left a nice star-shaped wound. Creeeepy.

About 8 years ago, was cleaning a nice hoo (about 55 lbs), noticed it had a full stomach and decided to appease my curiosity.. Cut it open and be damned if I didnt pull out a 20/0 hook! Not hooked in the stomach just totally sloshing around!

Pepperoni pizza slice thrown over the side after getting inked by a giant squid on the gaff. A minute later a 40 pound giant squid came up and ate that slice.
