    Check out a rod blank some time with even a hobby rod builder they can show you very easily that virtually all blanks bend best one way. Acid wrapping doesn’t change that, it does change which side of the blank the guides are on.

    Part of the problem with spining some of the new breed of rods is some of them have multiple spines.

    I think quite a few rods have multiple spines, although I think they are usually located fairly close to one another, and never at opposite ends (180 degrees apart).

    I have one that I made that was almost exactly 180 apart and I had problems figuring out which was stronger. Usually when there are multiple one of them seems to be more prominent than the others. Not this blank.

    Yellowfin on my Tuesday 1.5 day averaged
    8-12lbs. Largest of the trip was about 17lbs

    And then there are rods with no spine. I'm having a old Sabre being wrapped now that is spineless. 671h
