Vids real, but where? Could be DoHo, but they never really show anything that locks it in. That would be like right up against the jetty.

The tuna said, "I JUST WANNA DIE!" Reminds me of the brown trout in Corona Lake.

Ok naysayers, the “angler” was Kent Conklin, who was out for a beach walk at Doheny after battling the flu for three weeks. He usually patrols the beach with a fly rod, and does very well (25# halibut on the fly a few months ago, just outside DP Harbor in a float tube!). The tuna weighed in at 27 pounds, was carefully inspected for disease and parasites, and then carved up for eating. Kent said his first meal of it was fantastic, and he’s still alive and talking about it this afternoon. Clearly this fish was out of sorts to be grabbed from such cold (52*F) and shallow water, but as we all know, stranger things have happened. Dilly, dilly to him for being in the right place at the right time (and yes, he did have his fishing license on him!). :)

Carefully inspected by who ? something about a fish in that condition (swimming in circles in two feet of water) makes me very cautious about eating it.I wouldn't eat it.

That's insane. The tuna swam two circles around the guy and he had 2 or 3 shots at grabbing it by the tail.

Personally know Kent, the guy that caught it. Also received and emailed photo of him at the Gas dock in Dana where he weighed it. It's real.

Can't verify if Yellowfin, but Kent knows his fish. Look at Kim Z's reply about the 25# Hallie he caught off the beach at Doho on fly. That's real too.

It was probably looking for the Doheny Blues Festival. Tuna are known to be fond of slide guitar and songs about drinking.

It's Doheny. The white buildings and the two-story lifeguard tower are pretty distinctive. And yeah it looks like it's right by the jetty.

And the Doheny Blues Festival is moving this year to Sea Terrace Park - across PCH from Salt Creek Beach, near the library and dog run. Not sure if they're gonna keep the same name.

No doubt about where that is.
