IMG_3591.PNG I'm new to saltwater fishing, so I'm in the market for some boots. I keep hearing that xtratuf are not what they used to be. But on charkbait.com they said since 2014 xtratuf has had USA standards now. Does anyone have experiences?

They are fine, still pretty much the standard boot. Get a good insole for them for support and it makes them a lot better.

They're still great. I had the USA made ones and now own the China made ones. Both are good. I'd get the gel inserts however, makes a huge difference when you're on your feet all day

They had a run of bad glue from a supplier. The problem has been fixed and they are back to their old USA quality IMO. Get some of the low tops. They are my favorite boot ever.

Was that the glue that kept the liner in place on the inside where attached to rubber? I had a pair that lasted about two years of infrequent use...but the set i have now are fine even after daily use for 8 weeks and now four years old

I really like the new low-tops that I got at the Fred Hall Show! I find the pull tabs on both the front and back of the boot to be very useful. I was unsure about the height, but a whole summer of fishing has proved that they are tall enough to keep the deck wash out. I doubt if my old reliable higher brown boots will get worn again. And I agree about adding a comfortable insole.

I have the low tops and love them. I have a tinny and haven't finished the decking so the firmer sole is nice when jumping around/launching and retrieving.

Get the Xtratuffs, EVERYONE in Alaska wears them daily and not just fishing. They call their Sitka sneakers. Good stuff.

That XtraTuf ad here on BD is one of the best ads I have ever seen. Dead center of the picture is what catches your eye.......then you look at the boots.

Thanks for all your replies. I've made my decision and I'm gonna pull the trigger on the heel-less blue/red deck boots.

These have two seasons of VERY light use. My made in America version were way better. Just my personal experience.

For the time being I'll just glue back the top of the liner.

They last a lot longer if you don't put the sheep's back legs down the front of your boots.

That's funny. You should let them know to have the factory include this as part of their quality control.

Buddy. I'm with you. Crocs or flip flops can only take you so far. Constantly wet feet end up causing issues for me on multi day trips. Even my "wide" Vikings seem tight after a full day.

    Where are wide deck boots?
