If you can take photos of all the damage, you never know when SL will try to pull a fast one. It's always best to have documentation just in case, from what you have mentioned you are not at fault. It's the LL problem and you should not have to pay for shit, you should be compensated for time loss and inconvience do to this. Ask for $$$ off of next months rent, rule number one of getting what you want is "ASK". Best of luck and if we can help let us know. Seriously shoot me a PM if you need anything, handle your business bro. Don't take any shit from them at all.....you are the victim.

Hey Dave, sorry to hear about all of this shit. Mold issues are very tough, as they just changed some of the ways to be compensated. I did the destructive testing for this shit and it is every where. People have sued for so much money in the past 5-8 years that they started putting caps on the compensation. But like the guys said, get a lawyer and find out what can be done for you.

I hope it all works out for you and your family. And like Stan said, don't let the family hang around it for too long. My friend ended up in the hospital for 4 months and was very very sick from the mold. No telling if there is any damage done already. Usually it has to be disrupted before it does any damage, but once it airborne it is a mother fucker. I will hope for the best for you folks.

    A little help.....

    • They need to put you and your family up in an immediate motel until the other apartment is ready. As you did nothing wrong in this instance. You should not be subjected to mold or a apartment that is not suitable for living.

    • You need a dehumidifier but you also need a filter that is a particle separator - like ones for cat dander Here you go, this one pulls mold out of the air.

      http://www.oreck.com/air-purifiers/air8.cfm?keycode=CK693

    • That apartment should have an air purifier after they fix the problem because the mold residue will still be in the apartment for a while as it is airborne.

    • This water came from somewhere. Usually a bathroom leak with a tub, or drain from an apartment upstairs. If you are the top floor then it is the roof that is the culprit. The cause must be identified and fixed.

    • There is no quick fix as the wood and insulation is wet and needs to be replaced and the wood need to completely dry out...

      Just trying to help.

Good Luck / Feel free to PM me if I can be of further help...

The landlord is responsible for everything, including putting you up in reasonable accomodations while repairs are made. I strongly advise that you contact the housing authorities. They can really help you out by dealing with the landlord directly and making sure that your needs are met in a timely fashion. Good luck.
