I'm willing to buy a used FUNCTIONING TR-1.

Please let me know, even if it's just a lead.

    Thanks.

Portland marine electronics installed mine. Install was done great and they were very helpful to replace all the shit that went out each year. If I could do it again I would never get that unit. Look for something else. I'm sure there is a better solution than the tr-1

Main engine autopilot will not work well for the MA 7 fishery that Joe participates in. This is not a 5 mile straight line troll like Westport or Neah!

FWIW, I went the used TR-1 route on my old boat. In the end, I would have been money ahead to buy a new unit from the start, and it never worked reliably. I regretted that buy.

Just take your money and trow iy in the ocean. The TR=1 gold that I had on my charter boat need to be fixed multiple time a year. and at the beginning of the season. I put a raymarine on my new boat and love it.

I'm not familiar with the Raymarine autopilot for kickers, can you provide a link to the one you're referring to, @catchabigone ?

^Pretty much this.^ I'm open to other options, but I need something that I can remotely control direction and speed.

Only other option I know of would be a saltwater panther for steering and a pro troll for throttle control ..

But now you would have two different wired remotes to deal with .Alot less $ though , than a TR1(3k plus installed)

TR1's are awsome when they work , I have had 2 over the years on different boats.

Garmin it seems has never really put any support behind the product since they picked up the TR1

If it were me . I would try setting waypoints on my Raymarime plotter and let my A/P follow the troll route I desired along a contour line or whatever your trying to troll along , I also have a AP control head on the aft deck as well, so I am able to jog if need be ....

This doesn't control speed, but it looks like a reliable option for remote steering.
The website says Tanglewild Marine in Lacey is a distributor. Roughly $700 with wireless remote, not an auto pilot, just steering.

There is a used one on Ifish classifieds.
I have had them on a couple boats. I wouldn't have owned those boats without it. 1 was a 23 NR seahawk and ithe was 24' NR sled.
I have installed several and if you go that route if you have any questions let me know

Plenty of hos on here willing to help steer the boat ;) And, Bud Light is shitloads cheaper than a TR1.

Thanks for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

It looks like PME has the TR-1 on sale right now, so I'm thinking I'm gonna bite the bullet and go new.

I have one for sale. I took it off my boat before I sold it. It has the bracket and controls for a 2010 Mercury 15hp high thrust motor.

Joe, you would need a Yamaha bracket for the steering ram and throttle control to make this 1 yours.

I may have a used throttlle controller that would work for you although it looks like the mercury 9.9/15 transfers over to yamaha
