I have a Calstar 8' 196-8 and I love it. Only problem, is it's really 20-30# stick, MAX. I am looking for a rod with similar characteristics. What I love about this rod is it's casting ability. I can cast chovy, dines whatever... Thanks in advance

I have a Calstar Graphiter 700H in classifieds. It's exactly that range bait stick. Also makes a mean yo yo rod.

I think you are asking for too big a range in line weight. For instance, a GR765xl would fish 30 to 50 fine, but bottom out on 60(trust me ;) ). GR765l would fish 40 to 60, but 30 would be too light. One size doesn't always fit everything. You need 2 outfits to cover this range.

I got to agree with Craig on this one, your range is quite large. Since you like 8' glass and cork jigsticks (assuming this based of what is manufactured) why not try an all glass 90j? It has that spring in the tip, a soft feel like your 196-8 but is versatile as well. Most consider this only a jigstick for throwing iron, but the glass version throws bait well and has similar characteristics of what you like. Put it in your hands and maybe you will agree. For straight 60, you are in another league. I personally use an gfdh800xh for that because I, like you, like a longer rod. Hope this helps.

Let 'em eat and keep the pressure on 'til they hit the deck.
