...Expanding search up to 32', but I really want something 28-30' feet. Trying to fit into the 30 ft slips at Marina Village which is ~33' feet max LOA.

Even considering going up to 35.

Twin inboard diesel between 28 and 35. At least 10' beam. Well maintained clean boats only. Modified V or moderate V for a nice drift and better fuel economy.

Budget 100k.

Tower would be nice, but can add later. Flybridge ok if Blackwatch or Skipjack

No outdrives.

Top of my list are:
Henriques 28, Pursuit Express/Offshore 3000 with Cummins, 28-30 Topaz, 28-31 Tiara w/ Cummins, Skipjack 30, Bertram 30, Crystaliner and Uniflite if they've been nicely repowered.

Bottom of my list are: 30 Rampage, 290 Shamrock, 28 Carolina Classic, 28 Albemarle, 28 Bertram

I'm always keeping my eyes open for GWs, but only if its a clean good deal with less than 1000 hours.

Thanks

I am surprised that the Rampage is at the bottom of your list. A buddy of mine has a 38' Rampage (not for sale and out of your size range anyway) and I think it is a pretty great boat. I am not sure how the 30 compares to the 38, but would be really curious to know your complaints about the 30.

Rampage 30 is basically a Shamrock 290, built on the same hull. The Shamrock 290s certainly aren't maintaining their value. Rampage 30 may follow suit. If I found a really clean one for a good deal, I could be convinced. I stepped on a few here, but haven't been impressed.

There is a reason they call them Slampage.

I never heard that before and more importantly, never experienced that. It is a heavy boat with a lot of power and a deep vee hull that throws up a lot of water.

BTW, I see that you have a 2800 Wellcraft Coastal, as did I. How do you rate its ride for comparison?
That a long story Rick, will try and give you the short version.
Bought the boat in 2000 with twin 350's Mercury with 17X17 three blade props.
With a 16 degree deadrise (modified V) the bottom is fairly flat, makes for a great drifting boat aided by it's near 10' beam, however when the seas and wind kicks -up you need to slow down a lot or take water over the bow to go along with the pounding.
In 2005 I re-powered the boat with Volvo D4's 210 hp and went to 19x23 four blade props with a small cup.
The ride is night and day different, waves that once pushed my bow up I now knock down, in the conditions that onced forced me to slow down I can now run at a fair speed without the pounding so long as I allow the boat to run with a bit of a attitude (bow-up).
I fished on a 30' Rampage in Florida a couple of time, have a friend that owns one, good ride, he seems to be always playing with the tabs, was never in conditions that put the boat to work. I would buy one.

Does your boat have a tower? Mine had twin 350 mercury gas engines and it was a 1990 or so.
No tower, aluminum hard top, I bought the boat in Cape Coral Florida and trailered it to California.

I have an older 44’ Henriques that I absolutely love. I’ve been on a 28’ on the east coast once and love that boat as well. A lot of boat for 28. I cannot say enough good things about these boats or the company.

check out that crystaliner for sale. looks like a nice ride. kusler yachts

also, go as big as you can. a 28 gets small quick. trust me. im in a 33 now. had a 28

lots of good boats in the 100k range. hit me up if you want to take a look at a 33 vs 28. huge difference. both my old boat and new one are slipped next to each other

That 33 Crystaliner offered by Kusler is a very nice boat, engines still under warranty for two more years I believe. By the time you add pulpit and swim step it probably won’t meet your space requirements though. There’s a beautiful 30 Henriques on yacht world. Too bad it’s on the other coast. Good luck with your search!

Bump. That Crystaliner is just slightly outside my budget but would be a nice fit. Yeah, I would need a bigger slip.

Make sure you check the overall length of the boat vs the max slip length if the marina cares. My 28 foot parker is closer to 36 feet overall....

My 29’ Blackman is already in a 30 foot slip at Marina Village.32 LOA. 1055 hours on twin yanmar 4HLA Diesel engines. Straight shafts. Super economical to run. Burns just 2.7 gph at troll “combined” according to my digital floscans! Holds 260 gallons of fuel. You will not find another 29 Blackman in this condition anywhere. I’ve upgraded this boat significantly over the last 12 years that I have owned her. Too much to list on this forum. By far, one of the best platforms for SoCal fishing. The only reason I am selling is that I’m moving to Oregon later this year. Gonna be a bit more than your current budget, but it’s one of the best built boats I’ve ever been on. Only fifteen of the 29’s were ever built, and they very rarely come up for sale. If interested, you can email me at

Flying out today to survey an upleg from my 28 Alblemarle. I know it is on the low end of your list but you may want to check it out. In a 30 slip in Harbor Island. Removed cockpit bait tank and had transom tank and storage built.

Bow pulpit and swim step might make these not the right fit but a good fit for the rest of your needs especially for the price.

I have pursuit 2800 offshore. twin Yanmar 240's. located in 30 ft slip in Long Beach. I've been advertising for $50,000. hardtop that can accommodate a tower later. mike 310-600-7356

I have a 32 ft Blackfin. I'm surprised that isn't on the list although length overall is 34"11. I will say we have a tower and she is a bit tippy in a beam sea, but overall been in some rough stuff, and came home in one piece.
