Headed out of Mission Bay around 8 on our way to the cove, had a nice calm smooth rainy shitty morning as we got bait and started our first drift . We headed over a pod of about 7 wsb got hooked up twice but only landed one on a dropper loop with a dine at about 11. We then drifted over several schools of yellows, without one bite. thats a bitch..
well at least limits for 1.

Awesome! Quick question, how are you able to distinguish between WSB and yellows on a radar. Non the less know they are there lol. I have a nice lowrance radar but dont know how to use it yet lol any tips?

well wsb because they have a bigger swim bladder look for long blue arches along the bottom on your sonar. with yellowtail they have a smaller swim bladder so the can move freely in the water column. so for them, look for long squiggly red zigzags almost as if they were making a pattern on your screen

Forget the yellows as table fare. You got the chicken of the sea right there. That catch tastes like heaven! Your report is a little late but gives the rest of us hope for some $$$ fillets! Nice work!

"lightning bolts" tend to be yellows and WSB tend to be "sausages" on the sonar.
