Posting the report first, my friend will add the pics, he has them on his camera and he is past out since we were up since 1am.

Decided to do my annual pilgrimage to Catalina Island for another Guarantee Skunk of seabass for this year.
We Left Alamitos at 3am, arrived on the bait ground. Picked up a Yellowtail at 6:30am and that was it till 8:00am.

Still no seabass, so decided to go looking, arrived at West Cove after stopping at numerous spot along the backside for nothing but calicos and perch. Saw the bird working the squid, so we set up at around 65ft water after metering some calicos on the bottom, we decided to have a little fun with light tackle.

After 30 minutes of a wide open calico bit, the calicos stopped biting and then I hooked a WSB on a Phenix Ultra MBX bass rod, with a half filled Curado 300TE filled with 12lbs line, talk about bad luck :2gunsfiring_v1:, but I managed to thumb the spool with 5 wraps left and keep the fish on the line till it did the WSB floating trick.

Then it was WSB after WSB till we got 9 in the boats. Called another private boater who happen to roll by us, and the Pursuit who was nice not to overun us. Hopefully they did as well as we did.

Bite started around 12:30 about every 20 minutes and was still going when we left at 2:30pm.

Finally broke my WSB curse, now on to the Tuna season.
