Yes I encountered a $40.00 fuel surcharge aboard a boat that shall remain nameless. Now here's the kicker, after signing in and meeting our fellow anglers and already making friends, an announcement through the loudspeaker of the boat follows as such: we are going to have to cancel tonight's trip due to mechanical problems and are very sorry, please Come get your money back. In utter disbelief the galley erupts in mild turmoil as we try to absorb what has just happened. Now that most of us have been drinking since 3pm as we waited dockside for our loading time at 8, needless to say: driving home was not an option. As we gather our belongings and head back through the galley I hear another voice come over the loudspeaker and say: "We are not going to apologize again if you want your money back come get it and keep your mouths shut" Appalled at what I just heard, I decided I better get off the boat before I say something I might regret.Never mind the 18 hours some drove, the fact that most of us were stranded drunk looking for a cab and somewhere to sleep for the night, the days of work people had taken off to fish, gas money wasted driving to San Diego, and not to mention the weeks of prepping for nothing; and this B$#*h can't handle 3 minutes of guff from anglers? She should have been apologetic all the way till we left the dock, no matter if she had to tell every angler sorry 5 times each, still a minuscule task compared to the situation most of us now were in. Couldn't believe what I just heard!:Dynamite:

Man that sucks. Sounds like she is burned out already and the fishing season is just getting started. Hope everyone on the boat can still get out and fish on another boat. Sorry to hear guys...

I'm 90% sure I know who you are speaking of and YES, she is pretty rough crusty old bitch. You should have tried to get on another rig, driven to Point Loma or something.

Haha I woulda laid into her. It's not like I would fish on the boat again. Or ever. The least she coulda done was gave you guys numbers for a cab and lodging and explained that the boat just wasn't working. Totally unprofessional on her/his part.

Never thought I'd have to have a designated driver at all times while fishing. This could have resulted in catastrophe. Imagine if one of the guys killed someone while driving home...Hell DUI??? What a pain in the ass, thanks for posting. Thought for a minute we were going to talk about some bad galley food.

you are not doing any of your fellow anglers ANY GOOD by not naming the boat.

yes, there are some locals that can figure it out, but the vast majority of the potential passengers won't have a clue unless you post the boat name.

You are the only one who can do it on this thread, since it happened to you "first person".

please reconsider.....otherwise it's just a whine and cheese post.

Not sure I would want to be plastered before I even got on the boat but I guess the boat could have offered the out-of-towners and/or drunks a bunk for the night and a simple breakfast and some coffee in the morning to make up for the hassle.

I was on a boat one time when the skipper asked two drunks to leave the boat before we left the dock. They were a danger to themselves and others on board. I bet we get the crews side of the story before to long. :drunk

They complain about no tips yet the customer service sucks. That needs to be the #1 and some boats are losing it.

    Top Gun 80, H & M Landing boat!
Sorry but I feel this had to be put out there for my fellow BD community, get your shit straight or your business will suffer, sport fishing is such a customer service orientated business and one bad crew member can kill the image and reputation of a boat in minutes for a lifetime!

You indicate that it is the Worst Galley Cook ever, but did you let the Captain know about the issue. Most business owners do want to hear about issues before it goes viral. If he didn't change the situation, the boat name should be shown. Its still not to late to drop him a note.
