Here is a newly completed 3700 Day Box for Thorhammer. It holds four Plano 3700 trays. My favorite part was the photos of John as he received the box from his wife.

To any of the builders or wanna be builders on this thread I have a stack [over 40] of 1/2 inch baltic birch panels that are just shy of 24"x24" that I need to get rid of. Similar panels at rocker are 15 bucks. I would unload mine for 2 to 3 dollars and would do trade.

I got them at an auction thinking I could make boxes but too busy fiahing and fixing boats

    PM me

    I am in san diego

Day box for Randy Corbin of Ventura.

Mahogany and hard maple. It comes with a removable jig tray and holds three 3600 trays. With the jig tray removed, it will hold five 3600 trays. The lid will hold 4 spools of fluoro.

sorry for the poor pics. Photography is another expensive hobby I don't need or have time for :-)

    In general re. Baltic Birch...
Baltic Birch is 9 ply for 12mm or 1/2 " The glue is really good for Marine use and the wood has no voids. It can come in B BB or BB BB grade. The BB BB is more expensive but for a box the B BB is all you need. One side may have a couple of bow tie patches on one side in a full sheet.

As I am a long way from Oxnard, I visited my local craft lumber shop.
My next box:15.4 board feet, Khya African Mahogany.
8/4 so I have some milling to do. Hoping to rest to 1/2's - getting three/width.

Awesome Gabe! One day I'm gonna get a nice box from you. Woodworking like this is way out of my skill wheelhouse.

    2. A black walnut LR box for Alex Gonzalez from Alabama. Will be an upcoming Intrepid trip

    3. The last one is mine :-) A LR in black cherry with white sap wood. Just came off an Indy 10 Day

This isn't a tackle box, but I wanted to post it here because, frankly, I was inspired to build this by looking at all of the beautiful woodwork on this thread. I still can't get my head around building a piece of wooden art and then sticking it on the deck of a LR boat, but that's on me.

This is a blanket chest that I built for my daughter and her fiance as a wedding present. The structure is Goncalo Alves (a brazilian hardwood - looks similar to koa), and the faces are 1/4" curly maple glued to 1/4" plywood backing for stability. Interior is lined with cedar. It's about 32 x 20 x 20. The hinges have a pre-load, so they will hold in most positions - but it closes softly when below about 30 degrees.

Thanks to all of you who have posted up your work - building this was a bucket list item for me. Took about 6 mos in my garage.

Every time I see this thread come back up I get excited to see pics of another box. Such a cool aspect of long range. I restored an old box a few years ago because of this thread. Good stuff.
