Sold my Parker. You can find me on the Red Rooster.
I don't take any: I used 130# fluorocarbon on my wahoo jigs. Yea, I lose some, but I think I get more bites.

Welcome back, missed you last year! I use 44# for bait rigs. I got 5 Wahoo last year, 4 on bait, one on a Megabait.

I was so not prepared for that and so lucky... I'll take it! I had some 90# wire that would've been good for the Megabait. I had put a better hook on it which helped. I'll probably have some 275# wire for bombs next time too.

Looking forward to fishing with you this year. Great wahoo fishing on the trip last year. Hope the water cools a bit so the bait holds up and we have a chance at some larger grade tuna. Can hardly wait! Booked a June Shogun trip to get tuned up for the fall. :D

I will also be on that trip this year. My first long range experience. I have talked to Danny and Bart on the phone a couple of times and they both said what a great group this is to fish with. Can't wait to meet to everyone. Sept. can't get here fast enough.

looking forward to fishing with you Mike. My first trip on the X i was apprehensive not knowing anyone on the trip. yes i had been conversing with them via bloodydecks, fone, and emails...but still i was by myself...but after a couple of days we all just bleended together. great group of guys and one lady. i dont recall anyone getting pissed off on the boat. go into it with a positive mind set. you will have a blast.

This is something that has been bugging me for some time. I have been at the helm of a boat fishing the long range areas for over 35 years and we have boated several thousand wahoo. Every time a guy casts a jig without wire and it gets sniped off, that jig loges itself in the gillplates of the fish, insuring a slow death. Anyone who has taken a jig out of a wahoo that was swallowed should know this. If the fish bit off your mono attached jig, this is where the jig will end up. It also has to be detrimental to the bite for the boat as the fish swims off in a panic sending a bad vibe to the school. You should ALWAYS wire your jigs for wahoo.

I fully agree with your logic. For me fishing is a combination of harvesting a vital recourse and having fun doing it. It's all about being a good stuart. If the fish don't bite and you have to use mono, make sure your mono is heavy enough that it can't be chewed through.
