The deck on that Whaler was pretty cracked what's your opinion, repairable or new deck?

Looks awesome, but you forgot to install the disco light.:D

Really like that big PA horn, I could see that being very useful in what has unfortunately become too many combat fishing situations as of late around here.

Keep up the good work, it must be so rewarding dialing in an already sick rig.

Actually it's only the gel, 100% repairable. Guessing you went and looked at it you noticed the transom had been attacked with a jigsaw... Someone for some reason cut the back up like they were going to clamp an outboard right to the transom. The whaler drive bracket was gone and someone used bondo to plug all the holes including the rub rail holes and the fuel fired cabin heater exhaust. I think someone tried to dress it up a bit to sell it, The poor guy who was selling it didn't realize what he had gotten into when he bought it from Utah. Anyways, The transom has been repaired, The missing center section will be built out in glass as cleaning, rinse and bait station. Armstrong bracket has been ordered as well as a pair of 2015 Yamaha 4.2l F250 Offshore's. Carlos at Carlos Boat Works in San Rafael is doing the work... absolutely impeccable.

Installed the new 6" aft leaning stainless ScanStrut radome mount. I did plates on both sides, The inner ones are longer towards the bow. The center of the cab has a 1/4" ridge running it's length, When it was originally rigged they just stacked washers up under the mount (lame). I cut out a 6.5" square of seaboard then made a few passes on the mill to give clearance for the ridge. They had a tiny 3/4" hole off center for the radar wiring, Opened it up to 2" to match the new mount. Did CableClams on all the antenna then wrapped the exposed cable with spiral cut wrap.

Man you've inspired me. I found one of the Lumitech LED dome lights for $70 and I'll try that as a replacement for one that just burned out. If I like, I'm going back for the rest.

Found some versions of the LED spreader light for as low as $18 with free shipping and the reviews were very good. The version with stainless bracket was $26 so I went with those. The housings on the halogens on the sides of my hard top are literally crumbling apart, so I'll give these a test. My hard top has 4 small Halogens in front, two for deck and two pointed forward, two for deck on the side and one large 55w halogen for the rear. If I like these LEDS, I'm replacing them all. The LEDS have finally come down in price such that it makes sense.

Cut the openings in the overhead to mount the Standard Horizon GX1600 and GX2200 Radio's. The 1600 is the backup unit, It will be on it's own 12V feed. The 2200 has AIS RX built in and it will supply the MFD12 with onscreen target overlay, It also has a PA/Fog horn. Each has it's own Shakespeare 5225-XT 8' 6db gain antenna, the 1600's whip is 2' taller as it sits on a Shakespeare extension that previously had the GPS antenna on it. Cutting the fiberglass was not bad.... Rotozip with the vacuum attachment worked well, Cleaned up it with the Dremel. The mic clips were strategically located so the cord will never hang in front of the radio but off to the side as shown. You grab the mike and move it forward to unhook, This way it wont work itself out and smack someone.

Have you installed the LED spreaders yet? If so how do you like them?

I did install the Dr.LED ones and ended up returning them. I put two "Kevin Jr" units on the walkways and one "Kevin" on the deck.... All three produced different color light.. Looked like crap so I pulled them out, returned them and paid the difference for the 3 Lumitec Caprera lights. The lumitec's are much better and consistent in light color and output, Better yet you can dim them if needed. Picked up a pair of Lumitec SeaBlaze X underwater lights, One in white / blue and the other in green, going to have the guys at Carlos boat works mount them when they glass in a pocket for the new transducer. Here is some pictures of the Caprera spreaders on at night.

Installed the new Furuno DRS4D UHD Digital Radome and the ScanStrut Gantry over the weekend. I ended up cutting the top 15" off the gantry... Too many low tree limbs and phone lines in my neighborhood plus it would have been just too damn tall and I did not want to do a hinged radome mount. Taking a hacksaw to a $650 piece of stainless was almost painful but I finished it off nicely with some rubber end caps. Wire up the GoLight remote spot, Wire the Furuno GP330B to the internal N2k port in the radome and make a mounting spud to attach a anchor light to the unused stub on the gantry. Here's a few pics....

Took Friday off work and put in a solid 7 hours straight, Got the:

Excess cable on the new antenna's removed, Soldered on new connectors.
Gantry wired, pulled GPS NMEA2k cable to the radome, Searchlight cable and anchor light pulled.
Cable clam installed on top of cabin for anchor light and searchlight cables (only the radar network / power cable is being pulled through the radome mount).
Both VHF wired and installed. I ended up returning the Standard Horizon GX1600 and getting the GX1700.
Installed the RAM3 remote handset which is connected to the GX2200.
Installed the Furuno RD33 remote display.
Pulled the old Airmar B256 Tranducer out, carefully snaking out the old cable and leaving a pull cord in it's place.

It's spring now... Been busy with work and chugging along with boat crap....

Boat went to the yard at Carlos Boatworks for:

Glass and gelcoat the hole in the bottom from the old thru-hull B256 transducer.
Install DynaPlate for future SSB radio install.
Install new transom mount for the Airmar TM265C-LH 1kW Chirp transducer.
Install Lumitec SeaBlazeX underwater light (White/Blue).
Fixed a few cosmetic cracks on the deck.
    All thru-hulls re-caulked and sealed
    Full wax and polish.
I also serviced my drive with fresh oil and prop shaft grease. Bellows look great.... always stored trimmed at zero and straight.

Now it's back in front of the house on the trailer and I've begun wiring up the N2K network stuff, Installed the transducer and pulled the line to the helm, Installed the Furuno DFF1-UHD black box (f'n HUGE box), Put the upper trim pieces back in the house, Put the EPIRB back and put a stainless loop in to hold the antenna straight, Speaker wire ran and new speakers installed. With limited flat surface space and not wanting to cut huge holes for speakers, I searched and searched for the best sounding outdoor speakers.... I narrowed it down to the Definitive Technology AW6500 speakers, 2-Way 6.5" Low/Mid with a 1" Tweeter and a 6x9" passive radiator for extended lows. 8 ohm, 92dB sensitivity, 40Hz to 30kHz frequency response with a 200W max power handling. They sound nice, really nice. The old speakers were Polk audio Atrium6 outdoor speakers... They sounded like crap.

I have the deck plate off while I clean up the wiring and install the new AGM batteries.

Going to paint the fish box with some BilgeCoat or similar epoxy based coating.... The factory sprayed gel coat / black speckled BS is flaking off is areas.

Got some solid time in over the weekend...

Radar wired up, The DRS4D has a built in NMEA2k to ethernet convertor and the GP330B GPS Antenna is NMEA2k so I wired the two together to eliminate passing another cable all the way to the helm.

New stereo head unit installed and wired, Ipod interface mounted in the V berth, remote wired up, VHF's tightened down, final overhead wiring check and then finally got the gauge panel put back in. I went with the Fusion MS-AV700i deck as it leaves plenty of options for future expansion for video, Sirius and amplification needs.

Next up is installing the 12V stabilizer that will feed only 12V DC to the Icom portable VHF charging cradle and the Delorme Explorer cradle. They are power sensitive and if I don't use one, they'll be getting about 14.3V DC when the engine is running. The NMEA2k network is easy, like LEGO easy. There will be 4 devices total, The MFD12, GP1870, RD33 and PG700. I am installing a 5 port industrial ethernet hub to handle the NavNet ethernet stuff. The MFD12, Radar and DFF1-UHD black box all connect via ethernet cable. Furuno wants $600 for their ethernet hub.... Pfft, I found one for $30 on eBay .... http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5336488034&icep_item=111655328763 , 10~30V DC Input.

Wire the transducer to the black box, Sand and paint the fish hold and a few other small bits and we are almost ready to go!
