Research it, you may change your thoughts? It's a whole lot of HYPE and not so much Game.

Its been a while but I decided to not renew my membership when it seemed that they were selling more memberships than they had ranches , properties and W F clubs for everyone

I know a few people who have joined (big game hunters at least) and NONE had anything good to say. Especially if you live in SoCal. If you live in NorCal and can hunt on weekdays, I've heard it's OK, at least better than public, but down here there are better ways to spend your money.

Go on a Guided hunt on public land, learn the land/surroundings then apply for that area and go on your own terms DIY!

What are you wanting to hunt, Dewey? There are several fine pheasant clubs here in SoCal, there are private duck clubs which advertise for members from time to time in Western Outdoor News, like Jim said there are guides available especially for the desert regions, and if you want to hunt big game the money you would spend on the club membership can instead get you access to the Tejon Ranch.

I've been part of outdoor clubs twice in my life, and it was not a complete waste, but it was more about making friends and being part of a group with shared interests than just hunting.

I looked into it but decided to hunt Tejon & Baja......get my pigs in the spring and birds in the fall

Deer it's hard not to hunt local......close and lots of options

I have a buddy who bought in last year and didn't kill anything on his two hunts but he still renewed this year and he hasn't been since last year......he claims its all about NorCal we shall see....

a lot of great input fellas, Thanks
first off Gary,I pretty much want to hunt pigs and upland game in So cal . And Mark,
I've known about Tejon and Baja but don't have any hunting buds that can swing it. I guess I need to find some more people that hunt that stuff around here.

I didn't like that I couldn't bring my dad...that was my biggest problem with it. But everything else was fine. I saw pigs everyday on the coalinga ranches. Tons of quail there too. The kern ranches weren't bad either.

I looked into it for waterfowl and after I asked a lot of questions I found out that a reservation is for a seat in a blind not the blind. I was told it was for a blind at first. So I asked what if a guy shows up that doesn't want to hunt with my kid, is a shot hog or has an aggressive dog? I was told I would have to work it out. When I said that I was not interested in that kind of deal the guy literally yelled at me for wasting his time on two 10 minute phone conversations. It may be for some people and I am sure they have some happy members but I am not going to pay for that kind of treatment. I got on a private duck club instead.

I kind of had the same thing happen to me a few years back. It was about 5 years ago when I first got into hunting and saw their booth at a show in Vegas. Talked to the guy and gave my info. They made an appointment to come to my house to tell me how great it was. After listening to him and then hearing about the prices, I said "no thanks, it's not in the budget right now." He got all huffy and couldn't leave the house fast enough.
