Yes. Stupid maybe but each is attached to memories. More likely to gift the reels to friends and family than sell.
“Memories” they can be hard to overlook when trying to part with them but try this. New reels give you a fresh opportunity to create new memories!!! So start creating!!! 😱💪🎣

How many shoes does She own? Seriously… My hot neighbor came over and asked if I would like to go out for drinks. She then asked me if I still went long range fishing, as if that disqualified me. That was 5 years ago…
In my book, that disqualified HER. LOL

Finding the right rookies that can continue putting those pieces to work will let them build many more memories on top of the existing ones. Those folks would probably be happy to share their experiences with your “hand me downs”.

I wish… but she was married 3 times. One was a soccer player from England. She told me before marriage soccer would stop cause she did not want him to travel.

... used to be a lot of talk on this forum regarding the "addictive" quality of long-range fishing.

Present roster of long-range reels is easily in the 20 range and that excludes some surf casting equipment and freshwater equipment. It would easily throw the collection into the 30+ range. As for rods, they are in the 40 + range. The ceiling photo below, (NOT artfully displayed) is the majority of functional equipment (and the second picture I believe was one from Fishybuzz)(something I can only aspire to!). [Usually only travel with a dozen or so setups, depending on the trip.] Seen LOTS of photographs on the Long-Range Forum over the years, making this look like amateur hour, as some folks have "small" tackle shops. ...some even resemble the high-end outfits.

ALWAYS good to remember happy wife, happy life! Then you can always turn the other cheek and support some of her own "collecting".

    A
friend who was amused with the amount of skiing "essentials" we would haul, use to say "the person who dies with the most equipment. wins!"

    Certainty, I am powerless!

Been on a back to back business trips…
I’m really glad I’m not alone in my addiction.

For those that have asked, I can only estimate the number of pairs of shoes that my wife and that would be clearly north of 30 but probably less than 50. Now, how that translates into rods and reels I don’t know.

But based on the Vagabond thread it sounds like the guys needed the heavy stuff but I’ve been laughed at bringing the big guns on ridge trips. But like most fishing “ it’s better to have a gun and not need it, than need a gun and not have it”.
