crunch the numbers , chicken little, and come to your senses. if it's as bad as the corrupt msm has portrayed it ,{and brainwashed you into a panic}..... 1% of the u.s. pop is to die{ it was 3% at first}. this = 10,000 per day for 365 days, but that's not how it would progress, the numbers would be far worse per day, and over a shorter period. more people have died from the common flu in sd than the chinese flu, like almost 10 fold. where's the panic? " oh but this virus is like the flu on steroids!". if so then why not mass casualties ? dead from the flu is dead from the flu. the majority of this country has been program'd , and conditioned by the boob tube. the story that makes the most sense is always the truth, always. this will be like all the other msm scares... bullshit.

Diamond Princess was tested before they went in to do major cleaning. They found that there was still viable virus after 17 days. That should scare the crap out of anybody with a modicum of intelligence.

There have been tests that have determined that droplets can stay airborne for up to 3 hours with this virus. So you're walking around Von's or Target and someone that has been in the store 2 hours before you sneezes. You could theoretically have that droplet be inhaled via your nose or mouth. Or land on your eyes. Or land on your clothes. Or hair. There have been many documented cases of people not wearing body and hair protective gear and becoming infected. In China there were close to 2 thousand DOCTORS AND NURSES who became infected. 50% of those seriously. You don't think they were taking precautions? I don't think the majority of you fully understand just how contagious this virus is.

Have a friend who is an ICU nurse. They said it's like wild fire and playing Russian Roulette going to work. Running low on PPE and are already reusing some of their gear. Also said that they are finding that some are actually getting the virus in the ER.

The only conclusion that you can make about this virus is that you can not draw any conclusions. You look at the different countries. Why has Japan dodged a bullet (for now)? They have an older population on ave. than Italy by about 7 years. They have a higher % of smokers too. They were at ground zero to China due to the Chinese New Year (I was in Tokyo for 5 weeks) and saw the tourists. Yet Japan has had very little increase in cases of pneumonia. Why is it that one spouse gets the virus and the other doesn't when they are on lock down? Why didn't France get hit like Italy? They're the kiss kiss type like the Italians. Germans? Well not so much yet they have more cases than France. S. Korea? Well they sure the hell aren't the kiss kiss type and they absolutely jumped on the virus when the 1st case was reported. All that they have done yet they still have an increasing numbers of people getting sick.

There are some who take the macho attitude about the virus. Me thinks that attitude ain't gonna be so macho if they were to become sick. Best case you have mild to no symptoms. Worst case you get pretty sick and you have problems breathing. Struggle to get a breath of air. Not much fun and I bet the pucker factor is high thinking you may not make it. Even less fun having a tube stuck down your throat via your nose and having the phlegm sucked out of your lungs. You'll more than likely be awake when they do it too. Worst case you get intubated and you don't make it. There are plenty of people who are healthy and not surviving this virus as well.

Yes it does bite that we can't launch and go fish. But, if that's the worst of our bitches than you're doing well. Think about the million plus that have had to file unemployment in the first week in CA. Imagine what it's going to be like a month from now. Same with infected. This isn't going away in April like a miracle as some seem to think.

Just as while driving on the road you could have got in an accident and had the same amount of people called in to assist.
I agree with you that is why I clarified why I was on the road..I consider deliver groceries and meds essential. Three weeks ago while sitting at a light I was rear ended by an uninsured chick going 45 mph texting. My truck was totaled and I ended up in a Trauma center. I thought I was just making a quick 10 minute run to the shop never thought I would have impacted as many people as I did.The 4 Police officers that responded. The 4 firefighters who came on the ladder truck to cut me out.The 4 firefighters on the Medic Engine that treated me 1 Paramedic had to escort me. 2 Ambulance EMTs that transported me to the hospital.I lost track of all the people that worked on me at the hospital and the bed that I took up.I consider that first hand experience every time I get behind the wheel during this.

Maybe you all missed it, but we are in the middle of a world-wide pandemic. Every one of us will be directly, or indirectly impacted by the death it will take on us and on our loved ones. If you have any questions about how bad it will be here in 10-14 days, just take a look at what is going on across the country. 400 people died in the US YESTERDAY alone from Covid 19 and 919 died in Italy YESTERDAY alone. For the record, Italy has much better medical care than the US. They have 5.3 hospital beds per 1,000 people and the US has 2.3. They are much better prepared to take care of people that is the US.

We have been asked to stay home to limit the spread and people are complaining about the launch ramps being closed. They are closed because of the impact that your choice to launch the boat has on other people. Every time you have contact with another person you have a chance of catching the virus, or worse yet, spreading it to someone else. So it’s not all about YOU. It’s about the impact you have on other people.

The virus can be active for 24-48 hours on a hard surface. This means when you touch a surface you have a chance of catching it (direct contact). When you walk by someone and they cough or sneeze near and the droplets are suspended in the air and get on you and become exposed. It’s twice as contagious and 10 times as deadly as the flu.

  • Fueling your boat – You pull into the gas station and touch the fuel hose. You have exposed yourself and the person that touches the hose after you. Next you walk in and grab a burrito and touch the lid to open the display. You grab a coffee cup and touch the creamer. Now you pay the cashier with cash and he must touch the money. You walk by all of the other people in the mini mart. Some may have it and you are now exposed.
  • Next you get a flat tire. You are stuck on the side of the road and the CHP or local PD comes by to check on you. He now has to make contact with you. Next you call AAA to help you change your tire. Another contact.
  • You launch your boat and tie off to the dock. You walk by another boater. Another contact
  • You touched the clear to tie off your boat and the next person who uses the cleat is exposed.
  • You run to the head to take a leak. You pass someone in the john. Another contact.
  • You break down and call vessel assist or the coast guard. Another contact
  • You buy a scoop of bait. Another contact.
  • Now reverse the process to go home.
The above scenario is considering that you are going solo on your trip. As we all know, that's not the best idea in the world. If you are going with anyone outside of your immediate household, you are increasing the risk of exposure.

The reality is that it’s not really your choice. If you get sick, the medical system will take care of you. That’s the reality of it in the US. The problem is that by you being out and about you will get sick or get someone else sick.

Recently one of the knuckleheads teenagers who called Covid-19 a hoax and licked a toilet seat to prove it, recently tested positive. He made a choice and will pay for his actions. The problem is that he exposed others and put them at risk. This includes all his family and those he had contact with for the last 5-7 days. He has now impacted the healthcare workers who have to treat him. His poor decisions have now impacted other people.

This is like the law that requires a motorcyclist to wear a helmet. The argument is that it’s my choice and I can ride without a helmet. Actually, that’s not the case any longer. When you fall from your bike and hit your head, my tax dollars pay for your medical care. When you are a paraplegic and on medical for the rest of your life your decision to not wear a helmet impacts the rest of us.

The reality is that in 10-14 days, Covid 19 will really take control of our region and all of this will be a moot point. You will look back and see this decision as a no brainer, especially when you see the toll this is going to take on our region.

Before you comment on this post, I respectfully ask that you watch this video filmed by an emergency room physician in New York. This is what is likely to happen here. After you have watched the video feel free to comment. Stay safe!

Looming at south shore right now..
Looks open to me..
I was thinking the same and to leave in complete darkness, except the Life Guard will tell you to go back. You have to pass the Life Guard station to get to the ocean.

It's just about over...today may have been the last chance...
Lots of officials, police, and trucks with barriers on em at shoreline village today..
Hardly anyone around but the ramp had a lot of vehicles...
Talked to a marine patrol and he said closing the ramps is now the topic of discussion now that the beaches are closed...looks like its ponds only...

Did I miss something? your video is of Cuomo yappin' his lips.

and speaking of Cuomo and ventilators and pandemics
Cuomo could have purchased the additional 16,000 needed ventilators for $36,000 apiece or a total of $576 million in 2015. It’s a lot of money but less than the $750 million he threw away on a boondoggle “Buffalo Billion” solar panel factory.

Well said. But it's a normal human trait to want to do something when they're told they can't., so some will not heed the order/warning.

Would you happen to know if this still applies under a National Emergency?

I could be totally off on this one, but when I was listening to one of Mayor Garcetti's speeches, he hinted that calling out the National Guard to police the streets was a possibility if the orders from the Mayor and Governor were not followed. He didn't come out and say it, but the implication was there. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

A Mayor can not call out the National Guard.
The Governor can.

I would love to be out fishing myself. It is disheartening reading people argue about how it’s transmitted, who’s at fault etc. while it countinues to double in new cases approximately every 3 days.My wife is a nurse in Orange County and has been keeping me updated on the daily basis. As of 6pm the US had over 122k cases.(unfortunately making the US the leader of the world of cases ahead of China with just under 82k cases.Over 5500 cases in California. She said they are preparing for a wave of new cases in 10 days.(Similar to what DC61 posted) I don’t think he is spreading misinformation.Johns Hopkins Univ. and Medicine is a great source of information regarding Covid19. I am hoping it could help cut down on some of the infighting and help people make educated responsible decisions. Please be respectful of the Doctors,Nurses,1st responders I am living it firsthand. They are trying to buy time by flattening the curve while we argue about going fishing.

I just dropped off dinner to a firefighter friend who tested positive four days from an on-duty exposure. He is quarantined at a hotel. He was so sick the first night his coworkers took him to the ER. Today he has finally turned the corner. He said it’s the worst thing he has ever experienced. Migraine, back pain, fever and nausea. For the record, he is a really healthy guy in his mid 40’s.

After reviewing my previous post I noticed I misspelled continues I apologize.I would like to clarify what I said about the local rate of spread. To clarify it is the # of new cases that doubles about 3 days with mitigation efforts in place.Johns Hopkins Univ and medicine provides an hourly updated Corona virus dashboard on worldwide and state level #s the public can access. On a positive note a nearby neighbor of mine is elderly and contracted the virus. She is elderly and officials traced back how she contracted it. It was not a walk in the park for her but she is recovering. My wife had me following Italy’s #s since the beginning of this month. She was spot on with her prediction here in the US so far. Now she is very closely following new case #s in CA NY NJ FL and LA. Some good news is from her is that CA has been on the forefront on mitigating measures. Please do what you can to flatten the curve over the next ten days.I am not smart enough to interpret all the graphs that I was shown, however I am hoping it is in some part how CA responded quickly that we are doing better than NY (CA 5500 cases and NY over 5300 cases) I was told NY was 6 days behind us on ordering people to stay at home.

Where do you find these panic driving numbers? As someone else said, break out your scientific calculator (because your phone calculator won’t carry the decimal place out far enough) rediculously low numbers relative to US and World population.

This is link to Johns Hopkins Covid19 tracker.

I still find it amazing that there continue to be people who say "its no big deal." You guys are the actual reason why launch ramps have to be closed. So you don't load your boat or duffies with a bunch of equally cavalier friends. I guess sometimes people have to be protected from themselves. Even if you say you wouldn't do that personally and would just fish solo, it's that type of attitude that causes other similar thinking people to blow it for everyone.

Since the launch ramps are closed and its no big deal, you guys should volunteer at your local hospital and help with triaging COVID patients. You can even help with chest compressions when it get busy. Get right up there and personal with them. I don't know anyone working face to face with COVID patients who think its "just the flu."

Not sure I understand your post.I don’t know that I posted “panic driving numbers”I used your link and found #s consistent with what I posted.Maybe you can bring some light to the situation on why you are not concerned with the rate of spread with mitigation measures in place ( if I am interpreting the #s properly the rate of spread is # of new cases doubling every 3 to 4 days). In a hazardous materials incident first responders 1st step is usually to isolate the problem. In this case we haven’t isolated the problem. People are spreading it around without even knowing they are doing it.I have a business that could be wiped out by this I would love to hear some good news so I can get back to work and out fishing soon. Without a sound alternative plan in place I plan to support the Doctors Nurses scientists first responders who are trying to battle this
