Here's what ya'll give a shit about, fished 95 miles from the point, Had my GPS and the numbers were 31 11 7 117 29 2. Sea's were very nice 2-3' wind swell, saw quite a few PB's out there.
Going back to the barn was smooth w/ a slt n/w push.
There was a giood amount of bait at these numbers, and we saw breaking fish but they just didn't want to bite.
Good quality.
Sorry No water temp, no paddys noted, and you'll know when you arrive because the whole fleet in boxed up there.

Ok had to get my Tuna fis taken care of. So left Monday night to fish the Cherokee Geisha out of H&M . Left with 41 fun loving people at 1000, Great bait at the receiver, unfortunatly it was great Dines! Hardly a Chovie in the mix. Oh well, Heard from Dan the capt for this trip, then Paul the head man on deck gave a Good heads up on what to expect the next day. Since we had about half rent a rodders and 3 dads with thier kids, he didn't go into much detail, kept it short and to the point. My kind of talk, mainly because they are all gonna forget in the morning anyway.
Well I woke up at 0630 and we're traveling... ???? hmmm.
First hook up was at 0800 for a single and a couple bait fish. This was the scene all day (ok for the small part of the day we fished).
I think we put 32 fish on the boat, with the JP going to a 30# Albi. Another fish was a TOAD easy 35+#, but he wasn't in the JP.
I had 4 fish hooked up and managed 1 20# to the boat. I made the mistake of fishing 17# test in the beginning and had No chance from this grade fish and 40 other lines to get thru.
I must say my fix is cured... We drove 9 hours to fish 90-95 miles from the point, that made for maybe 5 hours of fishing time and 18 hours of boat ride

Man I just couldn't do it. There were only 3-4 assholes on the boat.. and they stayed away from me. The others were either decent people or down right fuckin clueless.. and I just can't pick on the handicapped.

And your right Mark... I need my own boat.. Think I'll print this and show it to the wife...

Im going out on the new Lo Ann next weekend......

have not been on a cattle boat in several years, but I do have extensive experience, so yes, I will be taking the spectra.

I will play nice, I only saw-off the assholes.

assholes are, IMHO, people who:

* refuse to step up the rail
* refuse to follow thier fish
* refuse to step back so I can go under or over them
* refuse to listen to what I am saying, no matter how slurred

oh, I could go on. Should be fun, taking a few newbies to the albie fishing, and so I should be doing alot of hooking and handing off.

Hope we find a better body of fish than you guys did Stan.:(

I'm taking my VHF so I can call all the BloodyBoaters in on the (hopefully) WIDE OPEN BITE!

My hole in the water.

is a 25' cabin cruiser with a 350 and a fridge that works, the electrical system is hosed.

Kman doesn't love me anymore, but he still has my crimpers.

I just want to know what shit is supposed to do and I can fix it.

Stan,

I've fished on most one day boats that are not charter boats (i.e. the landing books them and they run them nightly). I've been on the Geisha a few times before and not to slam the boat or crew but there are better operations out there. The Geisha is usually one of the lower boats as far as counts although I think the quality of anglers has something to do with that. Not necessarily a reflection on the skipper as most of these guys head to the same areas anyway and have been fishing for years so they know what the hell they are doing. I think the Geisha is open party which is always a tougher environment to catch fish in. Albies are schooling fish and it only takes a few farmed fish and bye bye school. If you are on a boat with a bunch of knuckheads or the rail is crammed with guys, lost fish are a factor that will hurt the overall fish count.

That said, I like the Pacific Queen for overnight trips. It was a great boat when Sam and Brian ran it and I fished it a few weeks ago under the new ownership and Bill Cavanaugh runs the rig just as tight as Brian and Sam did. Hell, they even cooked steaks on the way in. On a one day! How often do you see that?

I also like the Producer out of H&M and have had lots of great trips on that boat. Ray Sobiek will give it his all, that is for sure. I've never fished the Top Gun 80 but that boat has been whacking them this year as well out of H&M.

Out of Seaforth, I like the Cortez. Its a charter boat and I do 2 trips each summer on that boat but when they have a few days open, they will run out of the landing. Jim Hughes runs the boat and is a fish killing Nazi. Great boat and crew. I will say this about Seaforth, the parking there is plentiful and that in and of itself makes that landing a favorite if you can find a boat you like.

You may know all this info but I thought I'd chime in as I've fished the Geisha before and wasn't impressed enough to ever go back.

I'm leaving tommorrow night on the Cortez so I hope those chicken shit albies stay up and bite. Not gonna get much fishing time in at 90+ miles so we need to kill them first thing in the morning. I'll post and let you know how it went.

I agree with all the boats you suggest, I ran with the CG cause the price was very right..:D

I think everyone needs to recheck the cherokee geisha tho, since the fire and the remodeling I was VERY impressed with the galley, bunk room, fish holds and bait tanks.
But I was less then pleased with the open party and fishing 41.
Oh well.

We need to hook up, I'd enjoy sharing a rail with you some day.

There was a fire on the CG? I did not know that. How much of the boat did the re-do?

The other thing I didn't like about the boat was that damn overhang. If you have long rods, you have to rack them at an angle as I beleive the CG has an overhang above the rod holders.

We should definitely share a rail some day. Maybe we could get a bunch of BDers to charter a boat some time this summer?
