Takes 10-14 years to break even with the lifetime fees. There is no guarantee that I would live that long, so fug it! I rather invest the money in beer and strippers. Their college tuition costs are going up every year...

Annual for me. I am not about to go that quietly. I am going to fish until I grow fins out of my ass. They can keep the MLPA areas for now. There are more rounds left in this boxing match. Take a dive?, NOT YET. Quit?, Never going to happen.
Agree! They can keep fighting us but I will never give up.

Just bought new licenses for my family and me. The MLPA stuff sucks, but I'll still fish and take my family out.

For less than a buck a week to fish anywhere I want in SoCal? No brainer. I would never buy a Lifetime License 'cause my cheap-ass would probably die the day after purchase. 2012 licenses already purchased because Candy and I will be fishing 1st thing Sunday morning. Eggs Benedict, Mimosas and fishing on a perfect New Years Day. Doesn't get much better.

Boycotts don't work.

I'm getting a fishing license this year because caving into the environmentalists and giving up fishing is exactly what they want us to do.

For me, buying a fishing license is an act of defiance. :2gunsfiring_v1:

Don't give up. We are fighting a cunning and tenacious enemy. But it is just "politics" and belive it or not, if we play the game right, we will win and defeat the eco-socialists.

Time to get off of our apolitical and apathetic asses and get involved in (ugh) political activism.

Don't change political parties. Work within your party and if you belong to a union, let the union bosses know that they need to put pressure on our politicians to start looking out for the working men and women of this country and not let the elitists take away our recreational outlets.

Good luck guys....Glad im not in the fishing biz....No matter how you slice it, after this MLPA fiasco, there is going to be a 30-40% decline in recreational fishing interest, at a minimum.

There are very few business' that can take that kind of reduction in demand and survive for very long.... Now add to that the reduction we've already seen from the shitty economy for the last 3 years, and then look into your crystal ball.

Wanna see the future? Go look at the Monterrey aquarium's exhibit that chronicles the sardine industry.... THAT is where we're heading.

Fishing in SoCal is going to be a distant memory. It already is.

Sad.

DID WE GIVE UP WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR??!!!!!!!!

They want us to stop buying licenses and give in. It makes it that much easier to close off more areas in the future without having to spend any money to do it.

I finally donated to the Save California Fishing, since I cannot make all the meetings and such. It may not be much, but it is something I can do right now.

With the lifetime license can I fish in the ocean or do I need to buy the fishing privilege package also? I think I might just have to kick myself and be a lifer as much as I hate it.

I think the question has been answered.
between 74% and 82% will be getting fishing licenses

I don't understand why someone would buy that annual license though. It takes between 16 years and 18 years to amortize. You still need to make an annual trip to the dfg to get your ocean enhancement stamp and your lobster report card. That is unless you get the "fishing privilege package. That takes 24 years to amortize, and you still need to buy an annual lobster report card. All of this with the uncertainty of where you will even get to fish and for what species. Projecting recent events, you would be spending alot of money for no fishing privilege at all after a few years.

Not buying one. My cousin and I have decided to give our money to Nevada this year. We'll be spending most our time out at Mead.
We're tired of contributing to these damn eco-nazi supported Legislators. As soon as there are new people represnting us that actually care about our needs......................FUCK EM' !!!! :finger:

Im going to buy one lobster card too. Im sure with time on the water I will find some new hot spots. I have also found the farther out you go the less hassled you get. Just my 2 cents. As for mexico permit visa bs no thanks. If a passport aint good enough they can stuff it. I will fish here and bend my own tacos.

:rofl:Let us know how that works out for ya !

Oughta be LOTS of accessible lobsters "farther out"....especially in 300 foot deep water or more !

Here's a little tidbit: 90% of all sea life resides within 1 mile of the worlds coastlines.....

When you think of "Offshore" then think of the Sahara desert...only its underwater and devoid of most sea life, large schools of ANY pelagics are few and very far between

I ain't buyin one till rockfish season, and by that time I may be outa state workin. We can protest and not buy licenses, but DFG don't care, they ain't the whole state gov, just a part. The tree huggers will be happy if we don't buy a license and fish. The state couldn't figure it out.

Keep in mind that a small percentage of each license purchased, if purchased at a shop, goes to that shop. This money added up from many fishermen could make a difference in a shops monthly earnings. Fight the mlpa's not each other. Support your local shop.
