I see a lot here on Bloody Decks about Wahoo Bombs. The Leaders are JRI and Captain Jimmy's. If you were buying some new Wahoo bombs for a upcoming trip, which one would you buy and why? It appears as if the Green color is the popular one to use, maybe because everyone is using the green color. Kind of like the Blue and White jigs for Yellowtail. They caught the most fish because everyone was using that color.
Chime in here, as I am going to buy a few new Wahoo Jigs soon.
Thanks.

If you order 6 from Capt Jimmy, you get a pretty decent deal. I would order couple green for sure then maybe a blue, pink, and halloween colors. Also have a few shiny jigs and some bright color jigs like 6x jr or 6x heavies.

I stay with pink/purple or black Capt. Jimmies...not a color changer, just crank the hell out of it. If they are there, you will get bit. But what I have learned my last 3 trips down...each over 200 wahoo on the boat...is I actually catch more on bait. Seriously more fish on the deck. And it is an absolute hoot to watch a wahoo eat that bait in the corner, and then give you a real battle on 25# test to get him to the boat. I like 3 or 4 long runs from a fish...not one I immediately shut down because I can with a hammered drag and 50

I think the better question is do you snip off the spinner blade or not.

Yes; much easier to wind and therefore wind faster.

IMHO:

Double fluro tied JRI Hoo-A-Side in FAST, or green & black (Dorado-ish) or pink/ purple.

Tight lines & screaming reels to all

I just make em up with various wire gauges and hooks

I make single strand leaders, there pretty much a 1 shot deal. But they get bit really well. I make them from 27# to 95# for fishing whole Mackeral. I almost never fish bait for wahoo anymore, but I always have some just incase! Plus they pretty last pretty much forever. But a 27# single strand leader with a size 1-2/0 hook, depending on the size of the bait on 20-25 pound line is probably as stealthy as you can get! Super light drag, and let em do there thing for 5-15 minutes! Not really my style, but desperate times call for desperate measures

Although Titanium wire is tricky to use it is almost impossible to kink......I caught 3 bait wahoo on one leader and it could have still been fished. Need very specific crimps, need to pass through three times and need specific Niopress crimpers.......plus the investment of time to learn how....... the end product is very impressive and they work!

I bought some titanium wire to use on my bombs this next trip. Normally I fish 130# floro and take my chances. But as a insurance policy I'm going to wire up some with the titanium this trip and give it a try. That's if those stupid [email protected]÷×r F₩☆♧in Wahoo are around and can be caught! My Name is Tom, and I'm a wahoo junkie! They made me say that at a meeting I went to last night!!!

Yep, my name is Mark and I’m a Wahoo junkie. There, I said it and feel better already. I’ll feel even better after my first ‘hoo on my next trip!

I’ll be grinding a green Capt Jimmy on the first stop.

What pound test and what kind of knot? I was thinking maybe 80# with a spider hitch and a three turn uni as the bomb connection. Does that sound about right?

I was thinking of making up some titanium bomb leaders with a split ring at the end for easy swap-out. Thoughts?
