Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a Penn Fathom 25nld2 which will be my 40# live bait set up. Looking to see what everyones opinions are for what rod I should look into( Id prefer an 8ft rod). I know Seekers SS6480-8'CT is good but want to know my options. Thanks and Tight Lines!

RGP Mega 80 for up to light #50

Jamie did a great write up on the new RGP rods. I have the Mega 80, Predator 80 and Terminator 80. His write up is spot on, as the Terminator is way more powerful than the Predator.....another UC rating typo....

Hi J.B.... Lots of choices by U.C. but you might want to take a look at the RGP 80 Tilefish Jr.. I was going to write it up this week as U.C. started wrapping them as Factory versions.. And they are awesome for the purpose you are looking for... We have sold a bunch as customs and blanks.. And they may just fit your bill..

Best of luck on your decision

Jamie, is there a RGP Tilefish Jr.? I only see the US76 Tilefish Jr. or the US80 Tilefish.

Yes, in an 80 designation (8 foot) but we have been selling them as blanks in the past. You will absolutely want to check out the RGP 80 Tile fish Jr. Factory wrapped versions that we now carry..

Note.
You will not find these in the current catalogue but they are available.

You may also check out some of the rods recommended by others along with the RUS 76HP.. No wrong choices and now it comes down to which rod feels best to you..

I know you are in S.D. but we just received some at the end of last week so they may still be in stock.. More on the way..

The US 76 Tilefish Jr is too light for 40#, I use it for 30#. The RGP 80 Tilefish Jr must be more powerful... like the GP versions of the other rods.

I have my Torque 25nld2 on a 7'6" Tilefish Jr. and like it a lot! But, I use it mainly for 30# leader. I have a Fathom 30/2 on a 7'6" UC 76HP that I like a lot for 40#, and a Torque 30/2 on an 8'0" Terminator that I Love for 40#. All good choices, this is what I like.

Most of the GPs seem to be about one rod heavier in action and lighter in hand than their corresponding US blanks of the same name. At least that is what I came away thinking after pulling on them all side by side.
