Most of my old reels are 50's, 60's. But I think this is my oldest.
Sunnybrook Union Hardware Co. Think it's late teens to early 20's.
Seems they're only worth $20. Still has braided line on it.

I really like looking at the old stuff. What is your oldest reel?

In 1997 as a child I was taught how to fish a gotcha plug for Spanish mackerel in morehead city, NC .. the man doing this was using a white and gold reel with a wood handle (hint) at the time I was using some fx shimano lol ... anywho I saw this reel in a tackle store again some months later and found it to be the shimano stradic ... I saved all my Christmas money and purchased one in 1998 ... 105.99 I'll never forget it ... almost 20 years and daiwa saltigas ocea jiggers tiagras and many fish later I still have that reel . Last time I tried using it was for gator trout and the anti reverse was going out on me :( .... it's in my attic will attach pics soon .. awesome post

Wait a second are you talking about Stradic Fg's? I have 2 2000's I still have mounted on rods and use for everything from sheepshead fishing to catching bait. Still work flawlessly. I'm feeling old too btw!!

    Great question Sealskinner.
    Here's 3 of mine.
    No #332 on my 690J
Newell 300 on anything at 20 lbs.
Penn 500 Albi Special. By far my favorite reel to fish locally or on a long trip on the lite iron stick. Because it works !
The R229 & Garcia Mitchell 408. Are both NOS, cleaned & serviced, then cought fish on Harnell rods. Then retired.

This isn't my oldest reel but i always thought it was pretty cool. It's a battery operated reel made by Coit Electric Reel Co. they were only made from 1950-1955.
