Was lucky enough to be invited on a private boat for a 2.5 day a little while back. First day, my buddy caught and released a stripey. Second day, headed out to Cortez and caught 20+ BFT. Last day, I caught my first marlin ever. Probably never been so stoked on a trip in my life! Can't wait for spring!

It's a tie. This past October on a 15 day on the Intrepid, I reeled in my Marauder after an unsuccessful trolling rotation. After I lifted the lure over the transom, a wahoo jumped 15 feet out of the water and bit the jig on the way down, about three feet from my face. The only way it got hooked was because it ate the jig on the way down and its momentum and weight did the rest (yes, I did land it).

On the next stop I was casting my Raider jig and it got nailed by a tuna, which weighed 199 pounds back at the dock. That's a battle I'll never forget.

Hmmm, tough one. Oh, sure, 191 YFT on the chunk at Hurricane Bank in January.

Then a nice Yellow at Lupe in August on the Rooster. See avatar pic.

Then again, helping a first timer on the Ridge in early November was pretty gratifying, never forget his smile and his appreciation. From Canada, he was struggling with the whole thing. I pinned on a bait but the knot looked sketchy. Cast it out for him and when he got bit, sure enough the knot broke. Tied on a new hook for him, cast out again and then stuck with him, coaching him until he brought the Yellowfin to gaff. 12 lbs, maybe 15, but he was stoked! Couldn’t thank me enough.

took my son on his first trip to the rocks/ridge this Oct...at Alijos, we get a troll stop and I take him to the bow and show him how to cast a bomb...as I'm walking back to get my own rod, I turn and it was like watching an old movie of me on my first trip in '81 ;) He casts, lets it sink and starts to wind and bam...he's on. Watching that was better than any fish I have ever caught. Before it was over, he hooked 12 of the skinnies, and put 6 on the boat. He lives in Annapolis, but has already scouted out charters on the east coast for wahoo...he wants to take me :D

Not necessarily my biggest of 18 but my favorite fresh and salt catches of 18.

Big laker on a new watershed for me and a Bluefin caught on my freshwater swimbait rod. It was a great year for fishing

Mine was either my pb yt at SCI, or my broken rod yft.

My yft isn’t anywhere close to my pb but was the first time I ever broke a rod and I won the jackpot with that fish.
