I’m looking to get a new setup it would be around the 20-30# range and I’d like to be able to mainly throw irons and bait with it. I was thinking about a uc 90 monster but I’m open for anything in the 9 ft range. I’m ok with lever drags and star drags.

For tossing iron I would prefer 40# and narrow. I use an old saltiga 30t. Without knowing the budget I would say check out the newer saltigas or saltist. There are less expensive options like the fathom star drag. The 25n would work great for that application. Good luck!

With that budget just get one of those. 35t for the saltiga, 16 or 20 for the trini

Saltiga 35, or 40. I'm a Calstar guy so I know nothing about UC but I've only heard good things.

The CE 90 Monster is a really nice surface iron rod for all smaller and average sized irons. Deep bend that is parabolic, easier on your arms and back. Probably won’t want a low profile baitcaster as at full bendo the line can rub the blank. Torque 25n star drag or Trini 16N would be good choice, slight preference to the Trinidad personally, due to smaller size (if you are set on the Monster)

The US Monster is an all graphite rod that I personally am not a fan of for chucking jigs. Great for bait tho.

If you are only going to own one surface iron rod you may want to consider stepping up to the CE Wahoo as it will handle the larger jigs better.

I've got both the US90 Monster and the US90 Mega, and I find the faster graphite action virtually casts itself. I also have a couple of Calstars and like the glass action - but if I only could bring 1 stick it would be the Monster. But I fish 40# on it. The Mega is a better match for 30#, IMO - and it's what I use for smaller irons (Tady C, JPot, etc.).

I happen to really like the Fathom 25N star on both rods - regardless of budget/cost, I find the reel very easy to cast well and consistently...
