Anybody seeing any recent love for catchy tackle magnums on the troll?. I have one that has seen limited use and no bites. Willing to give it more time in the salt if I see or hear they’re getting bit.

I have seen them get bit in the past...on a couple of trips, very well too. Those trips were years ago, though, and on more recent trips that I've been on they have been less effective.

I think it must be a situational thing. Each boat trolls slightly differently, sea conditions and sunlight may play a roll, along with where they are in the spread and how far back the boat trolls them. I know they will catch, but I couldn't tell you when is the "right time" for one, or how exactly you should fish it. And I don't know anyone who can really predict what a wahoo will decide to do at any given moment. They don't seem either smart or stupid, just plain crazy.

Love 'em or hate 'em, wahoo are the damndest, most maddening fish in the ocean.

That's cool, Fishy. You know more about it than I do, and if you get bit on green cowbells, more power to you. I've pulled my green and I've pulled my Halloween colors, and they have both gotten bit, but nothing like the pink one.

Could be, Kevin. Or at least the metrosexual ones. I mean, you don't have to be gay to wear pink. Or to look sharp...even if you are a Raider jig.

I think it is more likely, though, that I am catching the intolerant neo-Nazi, skinhead wahoos. After all, my lures are perfectly secure in their pinkness, and have nothing to prove. Whose business is it anyway if they want to dance and flash their way through the water just as fast as they can? I mean a Raider's gotta do what a Raider's gotta do, right? And what's good for a Raider is even better for a bomb. Not their fault...they were made that way.

It's those darned mean-spirited wahoos that keep attacking them!

I've been tempted to paint up a marauder like a nascar cup car complete with numbers and decals. I think it would be hilarious and totally in the theme of speed kills.

Jim We get back to the fishing with confidence deal....do you get bit on a particular color because you happen to fish it 85% of the time or do you fish it 85% of the time because it get bit so well......LOL

    Touche, Fishy.

But I do fish different colors with both bombs and cowbells, and they all get bit. It has just been my experience that the pink gets bit faster and harder.

In Raiders I really only fish gold and pink, and both get bit well. But still, pink gets bit better pretty much all of the time. I guess I should polish my gold ones?

So, after reading this whole thread, it seems like just about everything that has ever been brought up in past threads about this subject is currently working.

    Sweet. :D

Looking forward to picking my favorite in two weeks! Got a good selection of Cpt. Jimmy, JRI Hooicide, and a few misc. bombs and four set-ups either dedicated to, or serving as part time 'hoo set-ups.

The memory that will stay with me a long time is that of a wahoo that had just bitten me off on the troll, jumping airborne at me so I could only see its open jaw with my fluro pink skirted lure in its mouth like a dog with a bone.
