Does anyone know what happened to the Bight magazine? I didn't see it at Fred Hall, nor in local tackle shops anymore. Thanks.
Back around December I emailed Brandon to ask the same thing. He said that due to his charter business growing rapidly and some other issues that the Fall issue was delayed but should come out early 2018. Still waiting for it . . . I love the mag. Hope it's not gone forever.
OK, so there is no Summer 2018 issue per se, as this will be out in fall. It is more like an annual now.
Listen to the archive of today’s Let’s Talk Hookup show and Brandon gives a great explanation on the next issue of the Bight
I listened, but not much of an explanation as to why more than a year has lapsed since the last issue. Pretty sketchy publishing schedule in my books.
I agree, and actually embarrassing because I gave a gift subscription to my brother who hasn't received a single issue almost a year later.
Ouch! That sucks. Bernie Madoff style. Hopefully Brandon will make it up to everyone if and when he ever gets back to a regular publishing schedule. Otherwise, it is tough to sell subscriptions, let alone convince advertisers you are actually serious about publishing.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who is wondering WTF happened to my Bight subscription. I just checked my email archives and I re-upped my subscription on 12/11/17. I still haven't received an issue since I renewed and didn't get the Fall 2017 issue I was promised on the websites renewal page. The magazine and content are excellent, the customer service is terrible. I've emailed the magazine several times and have yet to get any reply. I'm not not calling it a scam, not here to bad mouth anyone personally, and I don't know anyone involved with the magazine. I'm just a guy who paid $45 for a subscription, hasn't received chit, and can't get an email reply.
I really am pissed about this too. A lot of people paid upfront and nothing has been delivered. I know sometimes things dont work out, but I have to assume the biggest expense is printing and mailing so if nothing has gone out, where is our money? However, let me be clear that I have no doubt the intention was always to produce a magazine and deliver the same. I dont think anyone in involved planned to not have a magazine come out. But if it looks like no magazine is ever coming, some of our money should be returned.
Brandon is a standup guy. If he says his charter business has grown exponentially, I have no doubts that is the reason why The Bight has been printed yet. Between the cow trips he’s been running all summer and now the Lobster/White Sea Bass trips, I’m sure @BightSportfishing has been in high demand. He will come through for everyone.
Hello, Please excuse my late response on this thread. The Bight is still very much in business. Here's a bit of backstory on why the spring issue never happened, even though I hate to cite this: My father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which is the toughest of the cancers. Soul-crushing story aside, something had to give, and that something was the last issue. I lost my father before the Fred Hall Show. We sent out an e mail via our newsletter, but obviously that mode of communication didn't get through to everyone. And not everyone listens to Let's Talk Hook-Up, so there were still subscribers left in the dark. In the end, the fall issue shipped this past Friday and Monday.... If anyone has any questions, or would like to chat, my cell is 949.212.0719. Happy Thanksgiving, Brandon Hayward
