I got one from harbor freight tools. It worked for awhile, now the skin wraps up in it.

    Hey Tim

I use to have one and caught macks etc. and dropped them in alive.

Got clogged up all the time and rusted.

Buying it was alot easier to keep the chum constant and much easier.

I have use all the tuna in the world and ran out of the harbor once because there we so many flies about 20 gunny sacks of carcass and have used 998 pounds of pure fish oil and noticed no difference in the chum from new fish all.

I found I could not keep a constant chum line on a decent bite.

I heard about someone who used a comercial grade disposal stainless steel and thought that was pretty cool.

One day I was cleaning out the mackerel heads that jammed up the grinder and a piece of the grinder fell over so i unbolted it and dropped it over.

Im a big fan of the braid chum bucket, works good and is simple and straight forward. Then again there is no pre made chum available here in hawaii

    Hey Mike

Got a buddy here used to comercial fish hand line Hawaii said he got Threshers and some Swordfish.

I know most of the long line fleet works way north of Hawaii in the STFZ but what can you tell me ? always like to learn and am fascinated with other fisheries.

The STFZ north of you brings alot of like back and forth to here including Swordfish.

    58-66-F is all ways good.

Thanks Keith.. There is not a lot of options for grinding up fish. It is what it is. Wonder if I can get $250 worth of use out if it.

I heard that grinding up bait for Lobster was a good way to keep the seals out of your nets. Was thinking about getting a grinder to do this but it sounds like you guys in the know feel they are a waste of money.

I bought a small wood chipper at Harbor Freight for $130. It makes awesome chum.
