We have a bunch. One likes to stand on one of the steps and give himself a bath. Pretty cool to watch. And yes they like to eat things on my deck rail. Messy.

I used to have a Coopers hawk in the 70's. I lived in Dulzura on a huge farm. We had a big reservoir where birds and wildlife would come to the water everyday at dawn and dusk.
I would shoot doves, quail and cuckar for him to eat.
He could eat a whole quail in about 3 minutes. Rip and shred.

Dove turds piling up on ground under juniper tree.
I look up and see a juvi ringneck dove 4 feet away staring at me.
The next day there were two doves one foot apart.
The next day I saw a fledging feather falling from their roost.
A Goshawk was devouring one of em. When it noticed me it flew away with what I asumed were the parents in hot pursuit. The dove was still securely clutched in his/her talons.

Witnessing the carnage was worth the loss of free fertilizer.
