Im going to be down in palm desert and want to squeak out for a day of fishing. I was thinking about going out of Dana, 22nd or Davys what would you guys recommend. I don't want to fish for rockfish. The day would be next Tuesday the 19th, it would be a 3/4 or full day. What would you guys recommend?

Edit: Im now thinking about heading down to San Diego instead

Yea I saw that it only worried about the 50 people plus. I'm not some guy to get their cutters out and start snipping. Is it combat fishing or does it usually not get that bad?

No guarantees but on a Tues you have a good chance of not having 50 guys. You can always check the website and see how many reservations they have the night before. I always figure in about 10 walk on anglers on top of the reservations to see if it's a number that I can stomach. Been pretty light loads lately on weekdays as lots of guys are chasing the bluefin bite that is picking up.

I've usually had better luck out of San Diego.
    Take a 20#, 30#, 50# and you're covered

They have been catching bonito and yellowtail on yo yo iron and dropper loops. 40lb setup would take care of that. a 25lb live bait setup would cover any flylining application. Keep an eye on the fish counts to see what's happening right before you go.

Yea this is what I'm thinking. This is going to be my first trip down into mex water so I'm a noobie.

    MXL G2 2 speed / Seeker 6480 Bait/dropper loop
Trin 16a / UC CE900 Monster Surface iron
Valiant BV2-600n / Rainshadow RCE79 MH YOYO or heavy bait
    Lexa 400 / Phenix M1 Inshore 82H Popper/bass rod

what do you guys think? do I got my bases covered?
