Get ahold of Bob Sands and have them bring you some for the trip. If all else fails I have one you could buy if need be as I am on that trip...

Just got off my 8 day on the Intrepid. We had excellent wahoo fishing. THe predominate color that worked best was anything GREEN. Bombs, jigs, etc.

second favorite was a catchy/sea strike 22 in gold, with Pink or Green prism tape.

They also were biting the sardine as good as I've ever seen it.

Lots of guys using the Jimmy bombs. (Is he really a Captain?) ;) Catchy bombs were in use as well and I saw some guys throwing the Strike Master bombs. It was pretty good fishing we had. So glad that Andy chose to spend a second night on the anchor on the Ridge. Last morning the boat put 50 Wahoo in the RSW in 3 hours and we had to bail at 9:00. That was the 6 day 9/23-29 trip on the Rooster.

I was wired up with about 20" of 90 lb stranded wire. Andy recommended 69 lb single strand.

I used 90# 7-strand on the Capt Jimmy's and got bit just fine at the Rocks on the Blue/Pink. At the RIdge, Silver/Pink worked best. I used the Lead Master ones but the JRI's got it done too.

I lost my favorite mint/white JRI 4 when a YFT turned into a shark. Picked up a couple more on my way home this morning from the trip.

Could be placebo, but I think color matters with wahoo. Blue/pink, green, and red captain jimmy's bombs, pink jri bomb, chrome raider with blue or green and gun metal sea strikes all worked really well. Seemed like the color preference changed from the rocks to the ridge on a recent 10 day I was on. With that said, I saw pretty much every color and jig work at one point or another, but the ones mentioned working better most of the time. More important than color, think speed is a huge factor, so a high speed reel with a larger spool full to the brim and a whole lot of "hustle" make a big difference. Mostly used 3-4ft of 130 fluoro straight tie to braid, yes you will lose more jigs this way.

To top all of this off, after donating about 15 carefully planned brand name jigs with "the perfect colors" to the ocean, the captain told me the largest wahoo he ever saw come aboard (100lb+ on the excel) came from a torpedo sinker with a nutter butter wrapper super glued to it....so go figure, lol.

Yeah, well, no one said fish are smart. However, to quote Steinbeck: It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.

Did you have trebles or single hooks? If trebles replace them with singles. It's a lot harder to get a Wahoo on a treble.

Thinking of ordering some Captain Jimmy bombs. Do they come already rigged with wire or do you have to rig them yourself? Also, is it likely to fish any wahoo on a Shogun 6 day in December? Thanks for all the useful advice on here.
