I talked to him this afternoon. The boat fishes slime eel. If I heard him correctly he had about 70,000 pounds aboard. I could be wrong on that. Fighting the fire a lot of water was put aboard which is always a concern stability wise but I think they're fine. I asked him if the fire got down to the engine room, he said no but he had a lot of water down there and they, epa and or cg won't let him pump it out. Something about a lot of chlorine in the water. I'm not sure how high on the engine it is reaching. He also said he had a leaky shaft tube so more water is coming aboard. I guess they might tow the boat over to Ocean Gold to get the eel off and maybe figure a way to pump it out. All of it sounded up in the air but they'll figure it out I'm sure. He seemed to me a bit shell shocked but that's understandable. I didn't feel it appropriate to ask if they figured a cause or how it started.
