On the way back from the halibut grounds Sunday I pulled in off Pacific beach in about 120 feet of water looked fishy so I dropped a herring down to 60 feet and hooked a fish in about five minutes. Got him to the boat and a big sea lion came up and grabbed him and took off. I thumbed the spool and let him run with it. He finally had to come up for air and he let go of the salmon. I skied the fish back to the boat and it was a native silver about 10 pounds so I had to shake him. The sea lion won. It was late in the day so I just cruised back to port with the fishfinder on looks like there might be fish up there.Nicely Done. It has been another tough year to hook up out there. You give us a little hope that there are still a few left!
Oh yeah and I got a halibut. I live in Newport Washington, it’s about an eight hour tow for me but it was worth it. I stayed for four days so did a lot of exploring. I just moved to Washington and I’m starting to like it.Now that salt water is about over I’m going to concentrate on these Kamloops up here at Pend OreilleOn the way back from the halibut grounds Sunday I pulled in off Pacific beach in about 120 feet of water looked fishy so I dropped a herring down to 60 feet and hooked a fish in about five minutes.
