Not many like that around anymore. Back in the 60s we used to get them frequently, but I guess the hatcheries now can't produce. Nice job.

That and when you net the rivers 75% across alternating from one side to the other only the little net runners get by... but hey we are "co-managing" them for the health of the runs...

Nice fish! We stopped on our numbers from last weekend and tried salmon for the fuck of it on our way back in from tuna. No love. We didn’t try that hard though. Should’ve went in more shallow. Sounded like you guys were doing good in close and heard of a handful of really decent report coming from in there.

On the way back from the halibut grounds Sunday I pulled in off Pacific beach in about 120 feet of water looked fishy so I dropped a herring down to 60 feet and hooked a fish in about five minutes. Got him to the boat and a big sea lion came up and grabbed him and took off. I thumbed the spool and let him run with it. He finally had to come up for air and he let go of the salmon. I skied the fish back to the boat and it was a native silver about 10 pounds so I had to shake him. The sea lion won. It was late in the day so I just cruised back to port with the fishfinder on looks like there might be fish up there.

Oh yeah and I got a halibut. I live in Newport Washington, it’s about an eight hour tow for me but it was worth it. I stayed for four days so did a lot of exploring. I just moved to Washington and I’m starting to like it.Now that salt water is about over I’m going to concentrate on these Kamloops up here at Pend Oreille
